North Jersey 2, Group III

(8) Middletown North 5, (9) Orange 1

Liam McGregor recorded a first-half hat trick and the Lions rolled through the Tornadoes to reach the sectional quarterfinals against No. 1 Mendham. Pete Angelucci and Mike Delgrosso each scored in the second half while Pat Gallagher and Ryan Binn each added two assists.

 

Central Jersey Group IV

(8) Freehold Twp. 6, (9) Sayreville 0

Senior Alex Langa recorded a hat trick and the Patriots routed the Bombers to advance to the sectional quarterfinals on Friday.

Josh Cagan, Alex Janssen and Nick Puglia each added a goal for Freehold Township, while Chris Orrico and Kevin Finn pitched in two assists apiece.

(3) Princeton 5, (14) Middletown South 0

(11) Long Branch 3, (6) West Windsor-Plainsboro South 2

Renan Azevedo scored three goals, including the game-winner in the 66th minute, and his hat trick led the Green Wave past the Pirates and into the sectional quarterfinals Friday at No. 3 Princeton.

Stiviny Silva served a free kick into the box with the game tied at 2-2 and Azevedo volleyed the ball out of the air and into the goal for the deciding score with 14 minutes to play.

 

Central Jersey Group III

(8) Freehold Boro 3, (9) Lakewood 1

Jake Brower scored on a first-half penalty kick and added a goal in the 70th minute to lead the Colonials over the Piners and into a quarterfinal match with top-seeded Ocean. Freehold Boro defeated Ocean, 5-1, during the regular season.

Abel Herrera drew the penalty kick in the 34th minute to set up Brower's first goal and Jake Mostowsky slid a diagonal pass to the far left post, where Brower ran onto it and tapped it in in the 70th.

Isaac Ball gave Freehold a 2-0 lead in the 47th with an 8-yard rip off a long diagonal pass over the top of the Lakewood back line by Alex Mayorga.

Japhet Compollo broke up the shutout in the 76th when he took away the ball in the Freehold defensive third and knocked it past keeper Brendan Duffy.

Duffy made a leaping save on a shot by Jorge Diaz in the eighth minute to deny Lakewood' best chance prior to scoring in the final five minutes.

(3) Northern Burlington 3, (14) Neptune 0

(6) Wall 1, (11) Steinert 0

Riley Powers scored seven minutes into the second half and the Crimson Knights blanked the Spartans to advance to Friday's sectional quarterfinals against No. 3 Northern Burlington.

(7) Toms River East 0, (10) Lawrence 0 (TR East advances on penalties, 4-2)

Trevor Zabilowicz saved the first penalty kick of the shootout and Peter Kozlej converted the clincher as the Raiders topped the Cardinals on penalties to advance in the sectional quarterfinals against No. 2 Toms River South.

(2) Toms River South 7, (15) Westampton Tech 1

Seven different Toms River South players scored a goal to help the Indians cruise past Westampton Tech and into the sectional quarterfinals against No. 7 Toms River East.

Isaiah Dominguez posted a goal and an assists, while Clem Slavick, Danny Caruso, Dante Pizzi, Ryan Laycock, Jimmy Breslin and Steve Beaton each added a goal for Toms River South. Matt Babcock also added two assists in the win.

(1) Ocean 2, (16) Burlington 1

Steve Carton and Mark Mauro each scored a goal and Santieno Harding and Frank Astudillo provided the assists as the Spartans edged the Falcons to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Friday vs. No. 8 Freehold Boro.

 

Central Jersey Group II

(1) Holmdel 10, (16) North Star Academy 0

Justin McStay recorded a hat trick to lead the Hornets to a lop-sided first-round win. Jack Giamanco also scored two goals, while Anthony Arena and Joe Arena each chipped in a goal and an assist. Cole Brown and Justin Orosz also scored a goal apiece.

(13) Matawan 4, (4) Governor Livingston 2

Griffin Hayward scored two goals and the Huskies knocked off the Highlanders to advance to a sectional quarterfinal game against No. 12 Bernards in a rematch of last year's sectional semifinals. Bernards won that game, 1-0, en route to a sectional championship.

Matt Weisburg and Giovanni Barsoum also scored a goal each for Matawan.

(3) Rumson-Fair Haven 4, (14) Hillside 2

Jeremy Nives recorded a hat trick and assisted a goal by Peter Ethan to lead the Bulldogs over the Comets and into the sectional quarterfinals against Class A Central rival Raritan. Cole Lee and Leo Maita each added an assist for Rumson.

(11) Raritan 1, (6) Carteret 1 (Raritan advances on penalties, 7-6)

Jake Fortune and Tommy Savin each make two penalty kicks and Ryan Goggins atoned for a miss in the first round of kicks by converting the game-winner as the Rockets outlasted the Ramblers to reach the sectional quarterfinals Friday against No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven.

Anthony Sparacino scored Raritan's lone goal during the first 100 minutes on a breakaway.

(2) Monmouth 3, (15) Robbinsville 0

Brian Waltsak scored two goals and Joel Burgos added a goal and an assist to guide the Falcons past the Ravens and into the sectional quarterfinals against No. 7 Spotswood.

 

Central Jersey Group I

(13) Shore 2, (4) South Hunterdon 1

Leonardo Montesinos scored two goals in the first half and the Blue Devils hung on to beat the Eagles and advance to the sectional quarterfinals Friday at No. 5 Bound Brook.

(2) Asbury Park 2, (15) Riverside 1

Davensky JoinVilmar and Schown Narcisse each scored a goal and the Blue Bishops survived a battle with the Rams to advance to the sectional quarterfinals against No. 10 South Amboy.

(1) Highland Park 6, (16) Henry Hudson 0

(5) Bound Brook 3, (12) Point Beach 0

 

South Jersey Group IV

(1) Jackson Memorial 1, (16) Atlantic Tech 0 (OT)

Joe Schlageter scored off a rebound during the first overtime period and the Jaguars survived a scare from Atlantic Tech in the opening round. Ben Patti served up the initial shot and Schlageter won the race to the rebound to knock in the golden goal.

Jackson Memorial will host No. 8 Atlantic City in the sectional quarterfinals on Friday.

(8) Atlantic City 4, (9) Brick Memorial 2

Both Sean Aubry and Erik Fatovic scored in the first half, but the Mustangs could not make up a one-goal halftime deficit in a loss to the Vikings. Atlantic City will travel to top-seeded Jackson Memorial in Friday's sectional quarterfinals.

(4) Rancocas Valley 5, (13) Toms River North 1

The Red Devils scored five goals between the 65th and 73rd minutes to wipe out a one-goal deficit and beat the Mariners. Rancocas Vallley will host No. 12 Millville in the sectional quarterfinals.

(11) Southern 3, (6) Williamstown 2 (OT)

Ethan Leming scored the golden goal off a pass from Joe Kiernan four minutes into the second overtime and the Rams took down the Braves to advance to the sectional quarterfinals against No. 3 Shawnee on Friday.

Freshman Nico Leonard scored the first two Southern goals, the first on a pass from Kiernan in the 23rd minute to make it 1-0 and another in the 61st to give the Rams a 2-1 lead.

(10) Howell 3, (7) Eastern 2 (OT)

Junior Jason Tango scored the golden goal in overtime and the Rebels knocked off the Vikings to advance to the sectional semifinals against No. 2 seed and three-time defending sectional champion Washington Twp.

The game-winner was the second of the game by Tango, while Dylan Dougher scored the other Howell goal and also assisted one of Tango's goal.

 

South Jersey Group III

(9) Lacey 1, (8) Seneca 0

Riley Hunt scored 18 minutes into the match off a through-ball from Kevin Miller and the Lions made it hold up in a win over the Indians. Hunt came off the bench in his first game since injuring his ankle in a Shore Conference Tournament loss to Rumson-Fair Haven.

Ryan Giles saved 14 shots to earn the shutout in goal. Lacey will travel to play top-seeded Ocean City Friday in the round of 16.

(3) Pinelands 3, (14) Gloucester Tech 1

Anthony Diaz, John Hart and Aniello Lubrano each scored a goal and Kieran Sundermann dished out three assists to help lead the Wildcats to a first-round win. Pinelands will play No. 11 Winslow in Friday's sectional quarterfinals.

 

South Jersey Group II

(1) Delran 10, (16) Manchester 0

(11) Barnegat 3, (6) Cinnaminson 2

Cory Branz nailed a 20-yard strike in the 36th minute to cap a wild first half and the Bengals held off the Pirates over the final 40 minutes to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Friday at No. 3 West Deptford.

Branz also assisted Barnegat's first goal of the game by serving up a pass that Kenny Frank headed in to open the scoring. Chad Fraser put Barnegat up 2-0 with a long free kick before Cinnaminson responded with two goals in a span of less than two minutes to draw even.

 

South Jersey Non-Public A

(7) Red Bank Catholic 2, (10) Paul VI 0

Alex Nichols and Christian Simoes each scored first-half goals and the Caseys blanked the Eagles to advance to the sectional quarterfinals against Bishop Eustace.

(8) St. John Vianney 3, (9) Camden Catholic 0

Kieran Kane scored two goals and assisted another by Armond Valentino to lead the Lancers past the Irish and into the sectional quarterfinals Friday against No. 1 CBA.

 

South Jersey Non-Public B

(9) Holy Cross 4, (8) Ranney 3

Brandon Thomas scored two goals and Ademola Odunlamni added another for Ranney, but the Panthers fell a goal short against the Crusaders, who scored three second-half goals to rally for the win.

(11) Wardlaw-Hartridge at (6) St. Rose - PPD, Wednesday, 2 p.m.

 

Monday, Oct. 30

South Jersey Group II

(5) Point Boro 1, (12) Manasquan 0

Jake Brzyski scored on a rebound following a shot by Liam Kirinovic in the 71st minute and the Panthers (11-4-5) sneaked past the Warriors (9-10-1) and into the South Jersey Group II sectional quarterfinals Friday against the winner of Tuesday's game between No. 4 Sterling and No. 13 Pleasantville. Steve Redler earned his 10th shutout in goal for Point Boro.
