Class A North

No. 4 CBA 3, No. 1 Freehold Twp. 1

Seniors Tommy Glynn and Brett Sieg scored goals 40 seconds apart to break open a tie game early in the second half and the Colts (2-0, 1-0) hung on to knock off the top-ranked Patriots (4-1, 4-1).

Glynn headed in a corner kick by junior Jake Homowitz in the 49th minute and less than a minute later, senior Shane Borenius drew a takedown inside the 18-yard box that resulted in a penalty kick. Sieg slotted the penalty shot into the right corner of the goal to extend CBA's lead to 3-1.

CBA grabbed a 1-0 lead in the 14th minute when sophomore Will Thygeson ran down a touch pass over the top from Sieg and slammed a far-post finish to the right corner of the goal.

Freehold Township answered in the 19th on a close-range finish by junior Aidan Szymanski after senior Joe Lardaro flicked a head to the middle of the box on a throw-in by senior Shane O'Malley.

No. 5 Long Branch 2, Marlboro 0

Junior Lucas Da Costa scored two more goals and senior goalkeeper Tyler Abbot saved a penalty kick with the score still 1-0 to help the Green Wave (3-0, 3-0) beat the Mustangs (1-3-1, 1-3-1) in a rematch of the 2019 NJSIAA Central Jersey Group IV semifinal round, won by Long Branch.

In his first year with Long Branch's varsity squad, Da Costa has scored four goals in his team's first three matches of the season.

Middletown North 3, Howell 2

Senior Denzel Boateng assisted a goal by classmate Aidan Cardella, then scored an of equalizer of his own to help lead the Lions (1-3, 1-2) to their first win of the season while dealing the Rebels (3-1-1, 3-1-1) their first loss.

Sophomore Michael Colantino scored the deciding goal of the game to cap the scoring in the 43rd minute.

Sophomore Nick Spisak scored the game's first goal in the 15th minute and after Cardella tied the game two minutes later, Chris Daly game right back with a goal in the 19th minute to put Howell back on top, 2-1.

Middletown South 2, Manalapan 0

Sophomore Alex Soto broke a scoreless tie with a goal in the 64th minute and senior Ethan Dreyer put the game away with a score in the 72nd as the Eagles (2-3, 2-3) blanked the Braves (0-5, 0-5) for their second straight win following a 0-3 start.

 

Class A Central

Raritan 3, Monmouth 2

Sophomore Lupo Ryder scored the winning goal with 37 seconds left off a through ball from junior Matt Fogarty and the Rockets (3-0, 3-0) beat the Falcons (0-5, 0-5) on a thrilling finish.

Senior Hunter Amoedo scored off a feed from Ryder to give Raritan a 2-1 lead before Monmouth drew even on a penalty kick by junior Ryan Kuldanek in the 65th minute.

Senior Chris Fontanazza opened the scoring for Raritan off a pass from senior Emir Pupovic. Monmouth answered with a goal from junior Kaan Pehlivan, with junior Aiden Hicks setting it up.

Shore 2, Red Bank Catholic 1 (OT)

Senior Kevin Silveira scored two goals, including the golden goal in the 91st minute to cap his Senior Night and give the Blue Devils (1-3, 1-3) a win over the Caseys (0-4, 0-4).

 

Class B North

No. 7 Wall 6, Freehold Boro 0

Juniors Terence Byrnes and Matt Murphy each scored two goals and senior Jake Pepe assisted on three of them as the Crimson Knights (5-0, 5-0) coasted past the Colonials (1-4, 1-4) for their fifth straight win to open the season.

Murphy also assisted Byrnes's first goal, which came a minute after junior Kyle Horowitz opened the scoring in the 12th minute off a pass from Pepe.

Senior Sean Southwell made it 3-0 in the 21st with a goal off a pass from Pepe and Byrnes and Murphy each scored before the half.

Manasquan 2, Matawan 1 (OT)

Junior Joe Kennedy poked in the golden goal off a corner kick by senior Simon Cardenas in the 95th minute and the Warriors (4-0-1, 4-0-1) pulled out an overtime win over the Huskies (3-2, 3-2)  - Manasquan's third overtime finish in its first five games (2-0-1).

Senior Justin Skeete gave Matawan a 1-0 lead on a header in the 20th minute and Manasquan eventually responded with the equalizer on a penalty kick by junior Sam Pearlberg.

No. 6 Colts Neck 3, Red Bank 1

Junior David Tuschmann scored two goals and senior Ryan Lee assisted goals by Tuschmann and senior Derek Haff as the Cougars (4-0, 4-0) beat the Bucs (0-5, 0-5) to stay unbeaten.

St. John Vianney 2, Neptune 1

Junior Johnny Troiano scored two goals and the Lancers (1-3-1, 1-3-1) rallied from a one-goal deficit to beat the Scarlet Fliers (0-4, 0-4) for their first win of the season.

Troiano scored off a pass from sophomore Luke Molloy in the 38th minute and connected on a free kick in the 47th to push St. John Vianney into the lead.

 

Class B Central

Ranney 5, Mater Dei Prep 1

Junior Charles Anyichie scored the tying a go-ahead goals late in the first half and the Panthers (2-0, 2-0) tacked on three more after halftime to turn back the Seraphs (0-1, 0-1).

Christian Virone scored midway through the second half to extend Ranney's lead to 3-1, junior Charlie McCann connected on a penalty kick and Jett Pacifico headed in Joey Arege's second assist of the game to cap the scoring.

Asbury Park 4, Henry Hudson 0

Senior Jean Roody Salomon scored two goals and the Blue Bishops (1-0, 1-0) opened their season with a win over the Admirals (0-3, 0-3).

Sophomores Luckenson Altidore and John Wesley Lavarin each added a goal, with Altidore also assisting a goal as well. Senior Jaquan Lunsford also chipped in a pair of assists for Asbury Park as well.

 

Class B South

Manchester 4, Barnegat 0

Senior Blake Weiner buried two shots from the edge of the 18-yard box and junior Logan Duffy added a goal and an assist to lead the Hawks (2-2-1, 2-2-1) to a Senior-Night win over the Bengals (0-5, 0-5).

Sophomore Muberaq Aderogba scored the third Manchester goal just before halftime, which came four minutes after Duffy finished off a through-ball from freshman Joey Kurak.
