SHORE CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT

QUARTERFINALS

1-Rumson-Fair Haven 15, 8-Shore 2

Senior attackman Robbie Garavente had two goals and three assists while junior midfielder Bryan Hess and senior attackman Griffin Schultz each registered hat tricks as the Bulldogs (13-3) cruised past the Blue Devils (11-5) and into the semifinals yet again.

Senior attackman Henry Sillen added one goal and two assists and junior attackman Colin Pavluk scored twice. Junior midfielder Ryan Tuorto had two assists while sophomore attackman Wyatt Feinberg, senior midfielder Matt Waters, junior midfielder Oliver Heins and senior defenseman Ian Clarke also scored goals.

Senior midfielder Butch Clarke dominated the face-off circle by going 15-for-16 and picking up nine ground balls. Senior goalie Kyle Knapp played the first three quarters and made three saves to pick up the win. Senior Daniel Browne also made three saves playing in the fourth quarter.

Rumson will play fourth-seeded CBA in the semifinals at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Long Branch High School.

Senior midfielder Jack Britton and freshman attackman Gil Goldsmith had goals for Shore.

 

2-Manasquan 16, 7-Wall 3

Down 3-2 late in the first quarter, the Warriors (13-3) closed the game on a 14-0 run to put away the Crimson Knights (12-3) and reach the semifinals for the second straight season.

Junior attackman Jarrett Birch had four goals and two assists and senior midfielder Paul Krueger had a hat trick and one assist to lead Manasquan's offense. Freshman attackman Canyon Birch and junior midfielder Devan Carroll had two goals and one assists each, while junior attackman Joe Tonkovich and junior midfielder John Moran each had one goal and two assists.

Freshman midfielder James Pendergist scored twice and junior midfielder Pat Felstedt had one goal and one assist. Senior midfielder Peter Degnan had one assist and junior goalie Tom Pollock made eight saves.

Manasquan will play Southern in the SCT semifinals at 6 p.m. on Thursday at Long Branch High School.

Wall received goals from senior attackman Mike Steppe, senior midfielder Casey Foley and sophomore midfielder Will Forte.

 

3-Southern 9, 6-Freehold Township 6

Senior attackman Nick Simonelli had one goal and seven assists and junior goalie Tristen Farina stood on his head with a school-record 25 saves to lead the Rams (12-0) into the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals for the fifth straight season.

Simonelli reached 100 career assists with his eight-point game, putting him at 70 points on the season. Junior attackman Kyle Mulrane scored five goals to lead all scorers and reach 100 career points, and senior midfielder Jon Manzo had one goal and one assist. Senior midfielder James Manzo and junior midfielder Will Johnson each scored once.

Southern led 4-1 at halftime and held off a rally by the Patriots to advance to Thursday's semifinals against Manasquan, 6 p.m. at Long Branch High School.

Junior midfielder Mike Colicchia scored twice for Freehold Township (10-5) and senior attackman Matt Lach had one goal and one assist. Junior attackmen Josh Nastarowicz and Drew Dunn scored once, as did junior midfielder Mike Ferdinandi. Sophomore goalie Billy Patten made 10 saves.

 

4-Christian Brothers Academy 13, 5-Ocean 5

The Colts (11-5) scored eight unanswered goals in the second half to pull away from the Spartans (12-2) and advance to the semifinals.

Junior attackman Nick Casner had two goals and three assists to lead a balanced scoring attack. Senior attackman Shay Walczak had three goals and one assist and freshman attackman Connor Macrae scored three goals, all of which came in the fourth quarter when CBA scored six times to break the game open.

Senior midfielder John Salcedo finished with two goals and two assists to reach 100 career points. Senior attackman Cologialo Muscara had two goals and one assist and sophomore attackman Dylan Johnston scored once. Senior FOGO Chris Hayes went 8-for-10 on draws in the second half. Junior goalie Ryan McGuiness made nine saves. Shane McGuiness and Ryan Madalone had one assist each.

CBA advances to the semifinals where it will face top-seeded Rumson-Fair Haven at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Long Branch High School.

Senior midfielder Erik Rant scored three times and junior goalie David Walk made 15 saves for Ocean. Senior attackman Joey Appio had one goal and two assist, bringing his career assist total to 213. He needs four assists to tie and five to break the state record of 217 set by Glen Ridge's Alex Lopes. The Spartans have a game with St. Rose later this week before the state tournament begins next week.

Connor Daly also scored for the Spartans while Richie Bianchi, Alex Bravo and Holden Lowe had assists.

 

REGULAR SEASON

NONDIVISIONAL

Barnegat 10, Marlboro 9

Senior midfielder J.J. McKenna had four goals and two assists and senior attackman Ryan Reynolds had three goals and three assists as the Bengals (6-7) nipped the Mustangs (3-12).

Seniors Joe Jinks and Brendan Murphy and sophomore Ryan Flaherty each had one goal and junior goalie Kyle Kessinger made 10 saves.

Hillsborough 10, St. John Vianney 4
