Manasquan 18, Red Bank 3

Junior attackman Canyon Birch scored six goals and added four assists for his second 10-point game to open the season as the Warriors (2-0) took care of the Bucs at home on Saturday morning.

Birch, who had 77 goals last season, is off to a blistering start with 16 goals and six assists in two games this season.

Ryan Anderson also had a big game with a career-high eight points on four goals and four assists and Casey Mulligan added a career-best four goals and two assists. Casey Campbell, Mike Cielecki, James McElduff and James Mele also scored for Manasquan while Sean Anderson had an assist and picked up a team-high 11 ground balls. Mike LaPoint made three saves to earn the win.

 

Toms River East 9, Ocean 7

 

Shore 15, Colts Neck 3

Senior attackman Ryan Morris had a monster game with seven goals and four assists and junior midfielder Gil Goldsmith scored three times as the Blue Devils (1-1) jumped out to a 10-1 halftime lead on their way to a convincing win over the Cougars (0-2).

Justin Murphy scored twice, Jake Turner had a goal and two assists and Tom Bocco and Nick Crochet each scored once for Shore. Scott Sirianni made six saves and Chris Krousos stopped four shots.

Tyler Tomsen, Zach Alagna and Anastagio Muscara scored for Colts Neck while Brandon Cifone made 12 saves.

 

Middletown South 14, Mater Dei Prep 1

 

Toms River South 6, Jackson Liberty 5

Declan Mullin and Jared Holmes each scored twice and Connor Ryan and Shane Kluxen each tallied once to lead the Indians (1-0) past the Lions (1-1) in their season-opener.

Mullan added six ground balls and Kluxen picked up five ground balls.

Max Matthes had two goals and six ground balls to lead Jackson Liberty. Gavin Ferullo, Brandon Gorski and Nick Labianca also scored for the Lions while Sean Reid made nine saves.

 

NONCONFERENCE

CBA 13, CBA (Syracuse) 7

Senior midfielder Luke Valentino fired in a game-high five goals and senior attackman Michael Carroll had three goals and two assists as the Colts (2-0) traveled to Syracuse and took down the Brothers.

Freshman Kyle Aldridge scored his first career goal and finished with two goals and three assists, senior attackman Robbie Hermansen scored twice and Luke Grover tallied once. Kevin Junquet had a pair of assists. Chris Downey made 13 saves in goal.

 

Hightstown 11, Wall 10 (OT)

Will Forte and Mike McIntyre each scored four goals but the Crimson Knights (1-1) fell to the Rams when Ryan Daunt scored the game-winning goal in overtime. Daunt had a game-high six goals.

McIntyre also had two assists and Tim O'Hern and Kyle Peters each scored once for Wall. Sean DeMott made eight saves.

 

Watchung Hills 6, Rumson-Fair Haven 2

Billy Garavente and Harry Ricker had goals for the Bulldogs (0-2), who were defeated at home by the Warriors (2-0). Sean Bunnell made 16 saves. Watchung Hills led 2-1 at halftime and 4-2 entering the fourth quarter.

 

J.P. Stevens 6, Long Branch 3

Isaiah Gonzalez scored twice, Zahdierr Blueford scored once and Keith Dement made 16 saves for the Green Wave.

 

Old Bridge 8, Red Bank Catholic 5
