Championship

(1) Manasquan 57, (2) Toms River North 50

Jack Sheehan keyed a 20-4 run to close out the game as the Warriors rallied from a nine-point fourth-quarter deficit to beat the Mariners and win their first ever WOBM Classic title.

Sheehan finished with a game-high 14 points and scored nine straight Manasquan points during a 19-1 run that turned a 46-37 deficit into a 56-47 lead. Sheehan also added seven assists and four rebounds.

Senior Ryan Jensen added 11 points and hauled in 27 rebounds while also swatting three shots. Senior Shane Flanagan scored all nine of his points on three first-half three-pointers and also helped hold Toms River North guard Mike Nyisztor to seven points - three of which came on a three in the final seconds that made the score 56-50.

Jaden Rhoden led Toms River North with 12 points and Anthony Storino added 11 off the bench for the Mariners.

Third Place Game

(6) Freehold Twp. 56, (4) Donovan Catholic 53

Senior Nick Facendo scored 19 points and added three steals as the Patriots edged  the Griffins in the third place game of the WOBM Christmas Classic.

Senior John Carroll put up 15 points, 14 rebounds and three blocks in the win, while sophomore Ja'zeem Foster chipped in 13 points.

Senior Riley Collins led Donovan Catholic with 17 points and senior Kevin Singleton contributed 15 in the loss.

 

Albert E. Martin Buc Holiday Classic

At Red Bank

Championship

(6) Ranney 67, (1) Red Bank 51

Freshman Bryan Antoine scored 16 of his 27 points in the second half, including 11 straight Ranney points in the fourth quarter as the Panthers pulled away to beat the Bucs and win the Albert E. Martin Buc Classic. Antoine scored 88 points in three games (29.3 per game) and took home tournament MVP honors.

Freshman Scottie Lewis added 13 points, nine rebounds, three assists and eight blocks, and also helped limit Bucs senior Sadiq Palmer to nine points. Freshman Alex Klatsky knocked down four three-pointers and finished with 12 points and four assists, while junior Joe Mahoney poured in eight of his 11 points in the third quarter.

Senior Matt Reardon scored 14 of his 19 points in the second half to lead Red Bank, including four three-pointers for the game. Red Bank took a 31-27 lead to the half before Ranney outscored the hosts 40-20 in the second half.

Third Place Game

(2) Sayreville 57, (4) Central 55

Ryan O'Leary hit a three-pointer as time expired and the Bombers survived a furious Central comeback to pull out a win over the Golden Eagles. O'Leary finished with a game-high 29 points.

Nyheem Overton made a double-clutch lay-up with 1.5 seconds left to give Central a 55-54 lead after the Golden Eagles trailed by 19 points during the early stages of the fourth quarter. Sayreville called timeout and after taking a pass the length of the court, O'Leary turned and buried a 22-foot three-pointer from the top of the key.

Maks Gruszecki led Central with 19 points, while Denis Corbin poured in 14 in the loss.

Fifth Place Game

(3) Middletown North 57, (5) Freehold Boro 43

Freshman Rob Higgins led four Middletown North players in double-figure scoring with 15 points and the Lions topped the Colonials for the second time this season. Higgins also added five rebounds and four assists.

Sophomore Dave Campbell scored 12 points to go with five assists, senior Colin Frawley had 12 points and seven rebounds, and junior John Tomassetti added 10 points.

Chris Hannigan led Freehold with 19 points and Jake Curry chipped in 12.

Seventh Place Game

(7) Shore 40, (8) Monmouth 28

Freshman Kyle Koob led a balanced scoring effort with 10 points and the Blue Devils beat the Falcons for their first win of the season. Senior Evan Coffey pitched in nine points in the win.

Matt Mooney and Tyler Hawkins each scored eight points to lead Monmouth.

 

Husky Holiday Classic

At Matawan

Championship

Old Bridge 60, Matawan 46

Senior Randy Myers scored 15 points and sophomore Reggie Tawiah added 13, but the Huskies fell to the Knights in the Husky Classic championship game.

Third Place Game

Manalapan 58, Tottenville (N.Y.) 56

Sophomore Matan Zucker scored a game-high 20 points, including the game-winning putback with 1.5 seconds left, and the Braves took third place in the tournament with a win over Tottenville. Junior John Lugo added 10 points for Manalapan.

Fifth Place Game

Ocean 65, Irvington 55

Manny Padron scored a team-high 16 points and the Spartans won their second straight by beating Irvington. Senior Jake Talarico added 12 points for Ocean while Scott Bradley and Darius Brown each chipped in 11 in the win.

 

Bulldawg Classic

At Rumson-Fair Haven

Colts Neck 60, Rumson-Fair Haven 57 (2 OT)

Senior Jordan deGroot hit the go-ahead three-pointer with three seconds left and the Cougars topped the Bulldogs in a double-overtime thriller to cap the Bulldawg Classic.

Rumson senior Mickey Schluter nailed a three-pointer as time expired in the first overtime to send the game into the second extra session.

Lloyd Daniels led Colts Neck with 17 points and Kyle Gordon added 13 for Colts Neck. DeGroot finished with 10.

Brendan Barry led all scorers with 32 points and led Rumson back from an 11-point fourt-quarter deficit. Schluter finished with 10 points in the loss.

 

Keansburg Tournament

At Keansburg

Championship

Henry Hudson 74, South River 63

Anthony Larue scored a career-high 31 points and both he and Chris Coberg scored 20 apiece in the second half to lead the Admirals to a win over the Rams to capture the Keansburg Holiday Tournament Championship.

Tom DeFillippo also racked up 18 assists for Henry Hudson, which scored 50 second half points and overcame a seven-point deficit heading into the fourth quarter.

Consolation

South Amboy 59, Keansburg 49

Junior Quentin Godfrey scored 13 points and Nick Rizzi added 11 points and five rebounds, but the Titans fell to South Amboy in the consolation game.

Roselle Park 45, Keyport 43

Travis Alvarez scored 13 points, but the Red Raiders came up a basket short of the host Roselle Park in the tournament final.

Junior Noah Buono scored 27 points on six threes and hauled in 10 rebounds as the Green Dragons bounced back from their first loss of the season by beating the host Falcons.

Senior Eddie Tynion scored 14 points to lead a balanced scoring effort as the Rockets beat the Bengals to capture the Warrior Classic title. Senior Jordan Smith added 13 points and senior Joe Strand pitched in 12 in the win.
