Class A North

Howell 78, Freehold Twp. 61

Senior Eddie Morales scored a career-high 32 points and hauled in six rebounds to lead the Rebels (4-3, 1-3) past the Patriots (3-5, 1-3) for their fourth straight win.

Senior Brandon Wilson added 24 points and 11 rebounds for Howell, which opened up the game with a 17-2 run to close out the first half and take a 17-point lead to the locker room.

Senior Ja'Zeem Foster led Freehold Township with 12 points.

Marlboro 54, Freehold Boro 38

Junior Dylan Kaufman and sophomore Alex Ratner scored 18 points apiece and the Mustangs (4-4, 2-2) rolled past the Colonials (1-6, 0-4) to claw back to the .500 mark overall. Rich Vingelli led Freehold Boro with nine points and Ashante Worthy added eight in the loss.

No. 6 CBA 72, No. 4 Colts Neck 69 (2 OT)

Junior Stephen Braunstein scored 19 points and scored the go-ahead basket in the second overtime period to help lead the Colts (4-3, 3-0) to a thrilling, double-overtime win over the previously-undefeated Cougars (8-1, 3-1).

Senior Nolan Madden and junior Liam Kennedy each added 16 points and Madden hit a clutch, go-ahead three-pointer with 18 seconds left in the fourth quarter to give CBA a 63-61 lead.

Colts Neck senior Ben Bosland sent the game to overtime with a pullup jumper in the lane with six seconds left and later hit a step-back 18-footer with four seconds left in overtime to tie the game at 66 and send it to a second overtime. Bosland also hit a go-ahead three-pointer with 1:25 left in regulation to give the Cougars 59-58 lead, which increased to 61-58 before CBA scored twice five points in a span of 12 seconds to take the 63-61 lead on Madden's three.

Junior Josh Cohen posted 12 points, 16 rebounds and four blocks for CBA, including the tip-in that made the score 61-60 just before senior Rob Mahala stole the ball in the backcourt and got it to Madden for the go-ahead three. In addition to his 16 points, Kennedy also had six assists in the win.

Senior Robby Hill also scored 19 points and grabbed eight rebounds for Colts Neck, while senior Dan Gaines added 16 in the loss. Bosland also chipped in six rebounds and six assists for the Cougars.

Neptune 68, Manalapan 38

Senior Jared Kimbrough scored 20 points and hauled in 15 rebounds to lead the Scarlet Fliers (6-2, 4-0) to a rout of the Braves (4-4, 1-2).

All five Neptune starters reached double-figure scoring, with senior Scott Fields scoring 13, senior Kobe Blake pouring in 11 and junior Dwaine Jones and freshman Sam Fagan each throwing in 10.

Senior Alex Purzynski and sophomore Ryan Knorr each scored nine points to lead Manalapan.

 

Class A Central

No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 55, Holmdel 47

Senior Devin Cooper scored a game-high 18 points and the Bulldogs (6-1, 3-0) clawed past the Hornets (4-4, 1-3). Senior Elijah McAllister added nine points and seven blocks for Rumson, which played without senior guard Jack Solano.

According to coach Chris Champeau, Solano will miss the next four weeks with a broken bone near his left eye, an injury he sustained during the second quarter of Saturday's win over CBA in the Hoop Group Boardwalk Showcase.

Sophomore Doug Chan led Holmdel with 12 points, while senior Tim Zhou added 11 and sophomore Derek Chan netted 10 in the loss.

No. 9 Matawan 55, St. John Vianney 54

Senior Mike Dunne scored 22 points to go with 11 rebounds, four assists and four steals and the Huskies (6-2, 3-1) held off a second-half comeback effort by the Lancers (3-7, 2-3) to earn a hard-fought win over their neighbors on the other side of Church St.

Dunne converted a key four-point play in the fourth quarter with St. John Vianney on the comeback trail and also iced the game at the free-throw line. Senior Reggie Tawiah also aided the winning effort with 15 points.

Seniors Chris Mikos and Zach Moran led St. John Vianney with 18 points each and senior Elia Malara grabbed 14 rebounds in the loss.

Shore 52, Red Bank 46

Junior Chris Panduri scored 23 points and junior Kyle Koob added  17 to lead the Blue Devils (5-4, 3-1) to their second divisional win in as many days, this time over the Bucs (1-8, 0-3).  The win avenges Shore's loss at the hands of Red Bank in the Buc Classic consolation bracket.

 

Class A South

Central 45, Jackson Memorial 42 (OT)

Seniors Xavier Jackson and Tom Ruscitti led a balanced scoring effort with nine points each and the Golden Eagles (1-7, 1-3) outlasted the Jaguars (2-6, 1-2) in overtime for their first win of the season. Senior Alex Cabrera led Jackson Memorial with 11 points.

Southern 64, Toms River East 54

Junior Vinnie Deck led four Southern players in double-figure scoring with 17 points and also added six steals to pace the Rams (4-5, 2-2) to a win over the Raiders (3-5, 2-2).

Junior Johnny Tilton added 12 points and senior Thomas Foster and junior Cole Markley each pitched in 11, with Foster also grabbing 11 rebounds.

Senior Nick Silvia and sophomore Mike Goodall each scored 13 points to lead Toms River East.

No. 7 Toms River North 61, Brick Memorial 46

Sophomore Jakari Spence scored a game-high 20 points and dished out seven assists to lead the Mariners (7-2, 4-0) past the Mustangs (4-4, 3-2). Senior Travis Holland added 17 points, six rebounds, three assists and three steals for Toms River North.

Junior Matt Bernstein led Brick Memorial with a career-high 23 points to go with six rebounds and four steals.

 

Class B North

Middletown South 60, Middletown North 50

Seniors Ryan Purcell and Dave Gervase each posted a double-double for the second straight game and the Eagles (5-4, 3-1) flew past the Lions (4-5, 2-2) for a big rivalry win. Both seniors finished with 18 points, with Purcell grabbing 12 boards and Gervase hauling in 10.

Senior James Baldo also chipped in 11 points for Middletown South, which shot 14-for-14 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal it.

Senior Sky Cherry led Middletown North with 21 points and senior Dave Campbell added 20 in the loss. Middletown North played without junior guard and leading scorer Rob Higgins.

Ocean 52, No. 10 Red Bank Catholic 47

Sophomore Jack Miller scored a team-high 17 points and hit all four of his free-throw attempts in the final two minutes to help the Spartans (4-5, 2-2) beat the Caseys (6-3, 2-2) for their second straight win over a team ranked in the Shore Sports Network Top 10.

Senior Andrew Seager added 15 points and 10 rebounds and senior Gage Hutzley chipped in 10 points for Ocean, which beat Neptune - then-ranked No. 4 - on Saturday at the Boardwalk Showcase at Brookdale.

Sophomore Charlie Gordinier led RBC with a game-high 20 points and senior John Kelly pitched in 10 in the loss.

No. 5 Manasquan 80, Wall 57

Junior Brad McCabe scored 22 points and senior Ryan Flanagan posted 21 points, four assists and five steals to lead the Warriors (8-0, 4-0) past the Crimson Knights (3-4, 1-3) for their eighth straight win to open the season.

Senior Emilio Stevenson added 12 points and six rebounds while seniors Justin Gladden and Jimmy Thompson led the effort in the front court - Gladden with eight poitns and 10 rebounds and Thompson with seven and 12.

Wall senior Steve Geis turned in a second consecutive high point total, following up his 47-point performance Saturday vs. Jackson Memorial with 35 points Tuesday night. He now leads the Shore Conference at 27.9 points per game.

Long Branch 70, Monmouth 48

Junior Marc Dennis scored 25 points and the Green Wave (3-4, 2-2) coasted to a win over the Falcons (0-7, 0-4).

 

Class B Central

No. 1 Ranney 100, Keyport 34

Junior Scottie Lewis led five players in double-figure scoring with 27 points and the Panthers (8-2, 4-0) rolled past the Red Raiders (0-8, 0-5). Lewis, who also added nine rebounds and five assists, will enter Thursday's home showdown vs. Mater Dei Prep 17 points shy of 1,000 for his high school career.

Junior Chris Autino scored 18 points to go with six rebounds, junior Alex Klatsky poured in 17 points and senior Savior Akuwovo pitched in 14 points and six boards. Junior Bryan Antoine also threw in 12 points and five assists for Ranney.

Sophomore C.J. Johnson led Keyport with 13 points.

No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 76, St. Rose 44

Senior Kyle Cardaci scored 19 points to lead the Seraphs (8-1, 5-0) past the Purple Roses (5-3, 3-2). Senior Kenny Jones added seven points and 10 assists, while senior Adam Afifi and junior Alex Rice each pitched in 11 points, with Afifi also grabbing seven rebounds for Mater Dei.

 

Class B South

Lacey 58, Donovan Catholic 53 (OT)

Sophomore Jordan Cohen hit a game-tying three-pointer with four seconds left in regulation to send the game into overtime and the Lions (4-3, 2-2) beat the Griffins (3-4, 2-2) for a big home win that propels them above the .500 mark.

Cohen finished with a game-high 21 points to go with eight rebounds, while junior Carl Swensen added 16 points and junior Ryan O'Rourke poured in 13 for Lacey.

Seniors Jethro Moll and Joe San Filippo each scored 13 points to lead Donovan Catholic, while junior Matt Melon added 11 in the loss. Both San Filippo and Melon each hauled in seven rebounds.

 

Non-Division

Pinelands 52, Keansburg 43

Junior Anthony Diaz scored 16 points and the Wildcats (4-4) toppled the Titans (3-5) in a non-divisional game between teams on opposite geographic ends of the Shore Conference.

Sophomore Ryan Skeie pitched in 12 points and junior Andrew Schulz threw in 11 for Pinelands.

Senior Danny Vital led Keansburg with a game-high 19 points.
