Central Jersey Group IV

(6) Jackson Memorial 48, (11) South Brunswick 34

Senior Eric Carter scored 20 points to go with 19 rebounds, three assists and three blocks and the Jaguars beat the Vikings to advance to the quarterfinals Thursday at No. 3 Sayreville. Corey Lumpkin accounted for 30 of South Brunswick's 34 points in the loss.

(7) Freehold Twp. 75, (10) Brick Memorial 62

Senior Chris Talbott posted 15 points, eight rebounds, six assists and five steals as the Patriots stormed out to an early lead and held on to beat the Mustangs. Junior Tyree Wilson added 13 points and five rebounds, senior Mike Alexander had 12 points, four rebounds and three steals, and junior Jason Czajkowski chipped in 10 points, five assists and six steals for Freehold Township.

Senior Mike Basile led Brick Memorial with 17 points and junior Aaron Scheiderman added 13 in the loss.

Freehold Township will play at No. 2 Trenton Central in Thursday's semifinals.

(1) Montgomery 66, (16) Marlboro 54

Senior Justin Markowitz scored 15 points, but the Mustangs could not keep up with the top-seeded Cougars and fell in the Central Group IV opening round. Junior Kenny LaRocca add 11 points, while junior Matt Ringel chipped in 10 points and nine rebounds.

(4) Hillsborough 70, (13) Colts Neck 41

 

Central Jersey Group III

(2) Long Branch 41, (15) Jackson Liberty 32

Senior Myson Pennington had 10 points, 15 rebounds and three blocks and the Green Wave overcame a 20-17 halftime deficit to beat the Lions. Senior Kenneth Barrow also scored 10 points off the bench for Long Branch.

Senior Mike Healy led Jackson Liberty with a game-high 13 points, while senior James Sofield poured in 10 in defeat.

(6) Red Bank 66, (11) J.F. Kennedy-Iselin 52

Juniors Eddie Hendrex and Anthony Mitchell each scored 16 points and the Bucs beat the Mustangs for their first NJSIAA Tournament win since 2008. Hendrex also added 10 rebounds for Red Bank, which will play No. 3 Neptune on Wednesday in the sectional quarterfinals.

(5) Middletown North 64, (12) Northern Burlington 49

Senior Ian Wyckoff scored a team-high 17 points and senior Brian Esser added 12 points and eight rebounds to help lead the Lions to a win over the Greyhounds, who beat Middletown North in last year's Central Jersey Group III semifinals. Middletown North will play at No. 4 Hamilton West on Wednesday.

Junior Dylan Frawley also scored 11 points for the Lions.

(1) Ewing 88, (16) Ocean 45

(3) Neptune 72, (14) Hightstown 57

Junior Shawn McMillan scored 15 points and the Scarlet Fliers took down the Rams to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Wednesday against No. 3 Red Bank.

 

Central Jersey Group II

(4) Spotswood 54, (13) Holmdel 53

Seniors Gerard Nocera and Jack Flannagan combined for 30 points, but the Hornets came up just short against the Chargers.

(2) Lakewood 88, (15) Bordentown 45

Senior Dan Niblack posed a triple-double with 14 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists and the Piners coasted to a win over the Scotties. Senior Ben Watson also put up 22 points and 13 rebounds, while sophomores Sean Barksdale (16 points), Amir Tyler (14) and Hassan Diawara (12) all reached double-figure scoring for Lakewood.

The Piners will host No. 10 Rumson-Fair Haven Thursday in the sectional quarterfinals.

(3) Manasquan 74, (14) Delran 47

Sophomore Ryan Jensen scored 21 points to go with seven rebounds, three assists and four blocks as the Warriors routed the Bears. Senior Jack Fay also poured in 14 points, while senior Tommy Toole and sophomore Jack Sheehan chipping in nine points apiece, with Toole adding nine assists.

(5) Manchester 82, (12) Cinnaminson 47

Sophomore Shavar Reynolds scored a career-high 25 points and the Hawks rolled into Thursday's quarterfinal round against No. 4 Spotswood. Senior KaShaun Barnes also dropped 22 points and senior Darius Barlow scored 16 points in the win.

(1) Matawan 49, (16) Roselle 33

Juniors Jason Dunne and Joe Piscopo scored 13 points each and the Huskies handled the Rams to advance to the sectional quarterfinals Thursday against No. 9 Carteret.

(10) Rumson-Fair Haven 58, (7) Point Boro 53

Senior Jack Herrrmann scored 13 of his team-high 17 points in the second half and the Bulldogs outlasted the Panthers to advance to Thursday's quarterfinals at No. 2 Lakewood. Junior Alex Geiger added 12 points for Rumson-Fair Haven.

Senior Will Bocanfuso led Point Boro with a game-high 19 points. Sophomore Peyton Wejnert added 16 points and freshman John Venturi chipped in 11 in the loss.

 

Central Jersey Group I

(1) Point Beach 76, (16) Asbury Park 23

Senior Noah Yates scored 18 points and senior Jeff Bryant added 16 as the Garnet Gulls rolled to a win over the Blue Bishops. Point Beach will play No. 8 Middlesex in Wednesday's quarterfinals.

(2) Shore 79, (15) Manville 22

Senior Dan Pillari led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points and the Blue Devils stormed out a 35-5 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Juniors Dan Largey and Kevin Bloodgood each added 11 points for Shore, which hit seven 3-pointers in the first quarter.

The Blue Devils will host No. 10 Keyport in the quarterfinals Wednesday.

(6) South River 77, (11) Henry Hudson 63

Seniors Jaxon Terrell and Jake Link each posted double-doubles, but the Admirals' season ended with a loss to the Rams. Terrell led Henry Hudson with 17 points and 10 rebounds, while Link chipped in 12 points and 12 boards.

Sophomore Chris Coberg also scored 14 points for the Admirals, while Matt Martinez led South River with a game-high 38 points.

(10) Keyport 87, (7) Bound Brook 65

Senior Alex Thomson went off for 45 points, 16 rebounds and six assists to lead the Red Raiders to a first-round road win over last year's Central Jersey Group I runner-up. Sophomore Travis Alvarez added 16 points and 12 rebounds for Keyport, which play play at No. 2 Shore in Wednesday's quarterfinal round.

 

South Jersey Group IV

(7) Southern 63, (10) Kingsway 54

The Rams overcame a slow start to pull away for a win over the Dragons, setting up a rematch of last year's sectional quarterfinal classic with defending Group IV champion Atlantic City. Senior Mike Gesicki led Southern with 31 points and 18 rebounds, while junior Jake Logue chipped in 19 points.

 

South Jersey Group III

(7) Lacey 47, (10) Cumberland 41

Junior Chris Iapicco scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to pace the Lions to a first-round win over the Colts. Senior Jordan Arce added 15 points and senior Pat Moore chipped in 10 for Lacey, which will play at No. 2 Delsea on Wednesday.

(14) Ocean City 58, (3) Toms River South 57

Senior Marquis Davis scored 24 points, but the Indians fell to the Raiders a home. Sophomore Tyler Fall poured in 16 points for Toms River South, while junior Khaleel Green added 12 in defeat. Justin Ruggia led Ocean City with 18 points.

(12) Central 62, (5) Westampton Tech 55
