Howell 50, Manalapan 44

Senior Gino Palummo scored 15 points to go with six rebounds and the Rebels (6-5, 3-3) outlasted the Braves (7-3, 3-3) to climb back above .500. Palummo went 5-for-6 from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter to seal it.

Senior Will Kocsis added 14 points and eight rebounds, while Greg McManus posted 10 points and 10 rebounds, adding to his school record for career rebounds in the process. McManus became the all-time rebounder in program history in a loss to Marlboro on Monday and now has 273 for his career, 10 more than previous record-holder and 2010 graduate Gabe Cheavers.

Senior Mike Venezia scored 12 points to lead Manalapan, while senior Brian Conforth chipped in 11.

No. 5 Freehold Twp. 57, Freehold Boro 43

Junior Nick Facendo scored a game-high 16 points and the Patriots (8-3, 4-2) beat the crosstown rival Colonials (3-7, 1-5) for their sixth straight win. Senior Tyree Wilson - who played at Freehold Boro for the first two years of his high school career - added 10 points in the win.

Jake Curry led Freehold with 12 points, while Josh Dixon added 11.

No. 1 CBA 83, Middletown South 46

Junior Pat Andree scored 20 points and junior Jack McGuire poured in 18 to help lead the Colts (8-3, 6-0) to a win over the Eagles (4-6, 2-4) and maintain their grip on Class A North. Senior Jack Laffey added 14 points in the win.

Middletown North 42, Marlboro 41

Sophomore John Tomassetti scored on a putback with two seconds left and the Lions (4-6, 3-3) beat the Mustangs (4-5, 2-4) in a Class A North thriller. Tomassetti finished with 11 points, while senior Dylan Frawley scored a team-high 12 to go with seven rebounds. Sophomore Jules Calhoun also had 10 points and six rebounds in the win.

 

Class A Central

No. 7 Rumson-Fair Haven 57, Raritan 32

Junior Brendan Barry scored 30 points and knocked down seven 3-pointers to lead the Bulldogs (8-2, 5-1) to a win over the Rockets (6-5, 2-3), Barry's third 30-plus-point game this season. Junior Joe Strand led Raritan with 15 points.

No. 6 Manasquan 47, Holmdel 29

Junior Jack Sheehan scored a game-high 17 points and Ryan Jensen added 12 points and 15 rebounds to lead the Warriors (9-2, 4-1) to a win over the Hornets (3-5, 2-3). Ray LaForte led Holmdel with 10 points.

Shore 65, St. John Vianney 59

Senior Dan Largey scored 22 points to lead a trio of double-figure scorers from Shore (8-2, 4-1) as the Blue Devils held off the Lancers (5-6, 1-4) for their fourth straight win. Senior Kevin Bloodgood added 18 points and senior Jack Byrne chipped in 16 in the win.

Junior Zach Howarth led St. John Vianney and matched Largey with 22 points.

 

Class B North

No. 4 Red Bank 55, No. 8 Colts Neck 46

Senior Anthony Mitchell scored 16 points and Eddie Hendrex added 15 to help the Bucs (9-1, 6-1) hand the Cougars (7-2, 5-1) their first division loss of the season and create a first-place tie between Colts Neck, Red Bank and Wall in the loss column at the top of B North.

Senior Chris O'Reilly led Colts Neck with 16 and Tom O'Reilly poured in 15 in defeat.

Wall 59, No. 9 Neptune 46

Senior Ryan Janeczek scored 25 points and classmate Trent Mitchell pumped in 21 as the Crimson Knights (7-2, 5-1) won their sixth straight by beating the Scarlet Fliers (3-7, 0-6) thanks to a 44-31 second-half scoring advantage.

Wall shot 12-for-19 (62 percent) in the second half, led by Janeczek, who shot 4-for-5 from behind the arc after halftime and 5-for-10 in the game.

Junior Marcque Ellington led Neptune with 14 points and sophomore Barry Brown added 11 for the Scarlet Fliers, who remain winless within Class B North.

Ocean 71, Long Branch 46

Senior Taj Shomo scored a game-high 19 points and junior Scott Bradley pitched in 15 to lead the Spartans (4-6, 2-4) to their third straight win by beating the Green Wave (0-9, 0-6).

Matawan 69, No. 3 Red Bank Catholic 40

Senior Jason Dunne scored 26 points to go with six rebounds and seven assists and the Huskies (5-5, 3-3) steamrolled the Caseys (7-4, 4-3) to snap a four-game losing streak. Joe Piscopo added 15 points, while senior Nick Smith added 10 in the win.

Mike Travers led Red Bank Catholic with 10 points off the bench, as Matawan held each of Red Bank Catholic's starters under double-figure scoring.

 

Class B Central

Keyport 54, Keansburg 41

Junior Travis Alvarez scored 19 points and senior Joe Froncek and senior Anthony Fernandez each added 13 to help guide the Red Raiders (3-6, 2-5) to a win over the rival Titans (0-9, 0-6). Alvarez also pulled in 14 rebounds, while Fernandez added four steals. Froncek scored eight of his points in the fourth quarter to help Keyport put the game away.

 

Class B South

Manchester 66, Central 54

Junior Jordan Torney scored 12 of his game-high 19 points in the first quarter and the Hawks (6-2, 5-0) rode a fast start to a win over the Golden Eagles (4-4, 3-2). Junior Israel Almestica added 13 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore L.J. Robinson added 10 points off the bench. Senior Shavar Reynolds also pitched in nine points, 12 rebounds and five assists for Manchester.

Senior Anthony Arneth led Central with 15 points and senior Evan Lang added 12 to lead the Golden Eagles, which used a 10-0 run in the first 2:45 of the third quarter to cut an 18-point deficit to eight, which was as close as they got in the second half.

 

Non-Division

Barnegat 57, Monmouth 46

Freshman Mike Revello scored a career-high 15 points and senior Kyle Morris added 15 points and five blocks to pace the Bengals (5-5) to their fourth straight win, a non-divisional win over the Falcons (0-11).

Barnegat evened its record Thursday for the first time since the 2011-12 season.

Junior DaShawn Anderson added nine points and 12 rebounds for Barnegat, who played without junior guard and leading scorer Nick Camarato for the second straight game due to a high ankle sprain.

Senior Tysaun White led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points and the Seraphs (5-6) topped the Green Dragons (1-8) in a non-division showdown. Senior Jason Mandile added 13 points and sophomore Shane Mastro chipped in 11 for Mater Dei,.

Senior Kenny Buell scored 21 of his game-high 24 points in the first half to lead Brick and classmate Brian Oehme added 14 in the loss.
