Jackson Memorial 47, Central 43 - Watch Live

Senior Caden Brooks scored a game-high 18 points and the Jaguars (1-4) ended a four-game skid to open the season by grounding the Golden Eagles (3-2).

The win also halted a three-game Central winning streak and marked the first win at Jackson Memorial for coach Randy Holmes after 292 at Lakewood.

Senior Sean Slusak also chipped in 10 points for Jackson Memorial. Junior Justin Soranno scored 13 points and senior I-Meer Johnson netted 12 to lead Central.

Donovan Catholic 68, Toms River East 51 - Watch Live

Senior Trevor Pruitt scored a game-high 18 points and freshman Jeremiah Pruitt pitched in 14 as the Griffins (3-2) stormed past the Raiders (0-3).

Junior Dylan Orosz contributed 13 points for Donovan Catholic as well.

Senior Xavier Kless led Toms River East with 15 points while senior Charlie Monica chipped in nine points and 12 rebounds in the loss.

Point Beach 64, Keansburg 61 - Watch Live ($)

Sophomore Kevin Burns scored a team-high 23 points - all in the first three quarters - as the Garnet Gulls (1-2) hung on to beat the Titans (1-3) for coach Ed Goodman's first career win.

Junior Andrew Laumbach added 14 points and senior Joe Coakley chipped in 11 for Point Beach.

Senior Davon Jackson led Keansburg with a game-high 28 points and classmate Devin Acker added 11 in the loss.

Manchester 51, Pinelands 42 (OT) - Watch Live

Senior Josh Glenn and junior D'Maari Brown each scored 12 points and the Hawks (5-0) fought off the Wildcats (1-4) for a second straight time to close out a hard-fought two-game sweep this week.

Junior Savon Myers added 10 points and junior Wyatt Haselbauer threw in nine for Manchester, which clipped Pinelands by a razor-thin 40-38 margin on Wednesday and routed Toms River North, 55-35, on Friday night.

Senior Andrew Jenkins scored a game-high 15 points and junior Rian O'Rourke poured in 14 to lead Pinelands. All four of Pinelands' losses are to teams that are a combined 9-0 (Barnegat and Manchester).

Toms River North 63, Toms River South 39 - Watch Live

Senior Wesley Deitch led four Toms River North players in double-figures with 14 points and the Mariners (3-2) rolled through the Indians (2-3) to complete a sweep of their crosstown rivals.

Senior Brandon Bowen racked up 12 points and 11 rebounds, while seniors Jake Kazanowsky and Ethan Paul each chipped in 10 points. Kazanowsky also grabbed eight rebounds and dished out six assists.

Mater Dei Prep 69, Keyport 50 - Watch Live

Senior David Shkolniy led a balanced offensive effort with 13 points and the Seraphs absorbed a hot start by Keyport to pull away from the Red Raiders for the second time this week.

Junior Derek Ragona poured in 12 points, junior Kyree Drake added 10 and Daryen Cabrera, Gerard Novello and Alex Brown all scored eight apiece for Mater Dei.

Junior D.J. Thomson scored a game-high 18 points to lead Keyport, which stormed out to a 17-12 first-quarter lead before Mater Dei's 16-4 run for the duration of the second quarter put the Seraphs in the driver's seat.

 

Non-Division

Barnegat 83, No. 10 Freehold Twp. 81 - Watch

Senior Laurence Davis scored on a putback at the buzzer and the Bengals (4-0) knocked off the Patriots (1-1) in a back-and-forth, overtime thriller.

Freehold Township overcame a 14-point deficit with 1:05 to go in the third quarter behind a tenacious effort on the glass but it was the rebound the Patriots did not secure that decided the game. Off a missed three-pointer, Davis scooped the ball up in the paint and dropped it in as the final second ticked away.

Davis finished with 13 points - including five in overtime - while classmate Jaxon Baker led Barnegat with a game-high 27 points and four assists. Senior Tyler Quinn also poured in 17 points and senior Andrew Vernieri added 13 in the win.

Senior Joe Lardaro and sophomore Jayden Holmes-Cotter ignited the Freehold Township comeback, with Lardaro scoring 14 of his 24 points in the fourth quarter and overtime while hauling in 12 rebounds for the game. Holmes-Cotter came off the bench to post 20 points and 12 rebounds for the Patriots.

Senior Zach Orrico drilled three straight three-pointers early in the fourth quarter to account for his nine points, senior Anthony Barthel had 13 points and four assists and sophomore Malachi Harris dished out eight assists.

St. John Vianney 49, Middletown South 44 - Watch Live ($)

Freshman Dylan Seay scored 12 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead a balanced effort that helped the Lancers (3-1) outlast the Eagles (0-2). Sophomore Kyle Verriest added eight points for St. John Vianney.

No. 2 Ranney 57, No. 4 CBA 48 - Watch Live

Junior Elijah Perkins led a balanced offensive attack with 15 points and the Panthers (3-0) topped the Colts (2-2) in a battle of two of the top five teams in the Shore Sports Network Top 10.

Junior Ryan Zan chipped in 14 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Ranney while sophomore Isaac Hester poured in 13 points in the victory. Hester's three-pointer to beat the first-quarter buzzer broke an 11-11 tie and gave Ranney the lead for good.

Senior Colin Farrell led CBA with a game-high 16 points, with junior Pat Lautato pitching in nine in the loss.

No. 3 Marlboro 71, Howell 62 - Watch Live

Juniors Jack Seidler and Jon Spatola each scored 21 points and the Mustangs (1-1) beat the previously-unbeaten Rebels (4-1) for their first win of the season.

Junior Zack Molod also poured in 13 points for Marlboro, which closed the game with a 20-14 advantage in the fourth quarter to deny Howell its fifth straight win to open the season and an upset of the No. 3 team in the SSN Top 10.

Junior Zach Emery led Howell with a career-high 27 points behind seven three-pointers, while juniors Joe Dupuis (12 points) and Nick Gallo (10) each hit double-figures as well for the Rebels.

Freehold Boro 63, Point Boro 50 - Watch Live ($)

Senior Jiasion Carpenter, senior Ryan Neely and junior Tyler Ochojski each put up a double-double and the Colonials (3-2) beat the Panthers (0-1) to snap a two-game skid.

Carpenter poured in a game-high 25 points and hauled in 16 rebounds to lead the way, while Neely dished out 10 assists to go with his 12 points. Ochojski also contributed 10 points and 10 rebounds.

Sophomore Steve Mellett led Point Boro with 23 points, nine rebounds and three steals while junior Colton MacGlashan pitched in 11 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in the loss.

 

Non-Conference

Seton Hall Prep 69, No. 6 Wall 58 - Watch Live ($)

Senior Logan Peters scored 20 points and grabbed 10 rebounds, but the Crimson Knights (0-3) dropped their third straight to open the season by falling on the road to the Pirates (2-0) - the No. 17 team in the state, according to NJ Advance Media.

Senior Pat Lacey posted 18 points and eight rebounds, senior Tom Palluzzi scored 10 points and junior Colin Ackerman netted eight for Wall.

The Crimson Knights had no answer for junior Gavin Kreitz, who scored 23 of his game-high 31 points in the first half.
