Senior Nick Mugavero scored a game-high 19 points and the Colts (18-3, 13-0) pulled away to beat the Patriots (15-7, 10-4) for the second time this season.

Senior Jack McGuire added 17 points and senior Pat Andree chipped in 16 for CBA.

Senior Nick Facendo led Freehold Township with a game-high 21 points and junior Steve Staklinski added 15 in the loss.

 

Non-Division

Matawan 68, Jackson Liberty 61

Senior Mergim Gjyriqi scored 23 points and the Huskies (11-11) beat the Lions (4-15) to qualify for the Shore Conference Tournament.

Senior Randy Meyers poured in 18 points and sophomore Michael Dunne added 15 for Matawan.

Freshman Dan Sofield led Jackson Liberty with 20 points and senior Lateef Foster chipped in 14 in the loss. Junior Nico Montano also netted 11 points for the Lions.

Pinelands 62, Monmouth 58

Senior Dave Lunn scored 18 points to move within 14 of 1,000 for his career as the Wildcats (10-12) edged the Falcons (2-19).

Junior Chris Burke added 14 points for Pinelands and senior Mike Suarez contributed 12 points and seven steals in the win.

Senior Matt Mooney and junior Myles Owens each scored 12 points to lead Monmouth.

Wall 74, Brick Memorial 45

Sophomore Steve Geis scored 23 points and junior Gene Scott added 15 to lead the Crimson Knights (4-17) to a rout of the Mustangs (1-18).

Vinny Vecchione led Brick Memorial with 13 points.

Toms River South 58, Middletown South 39

Junior Ryan Schwartz scored 17 points and senior R.J. Laing added 12 to help the Indians (8-12) top the Eagles (1-21) on the road.

Red Bank 54, Shore 45

The Bucs (11-10) held off the Blue Devils (2-19) to officially qualify for the Shore Conference Tournament.

St. John Vianney 63, Red Bank Catholic 49

Senior Zach Howarth scored 25 points, including the 1,000th of his career in the final 20 seconds, as the Lancers (13-8) beat the Caseys (10-12) and eliminated them from Shore Conference Tournament contention.

Howarth needed 24 points entering Saturday to join the 1,000-point club and left RBC with 1,001 for his career.

Senior Grant Goode scored 20 points for Vianney and is now 24 shy of 1,000 for his career.

Senior Evan Madigan led Red Bank Catholic with 20 points. Sophomore Matt Ansell added 11 points and senior Eddie Hahn scored 10 in the loss.

No. 3 Manasquan 58, St. Rose 55

Senior Jack Sheehan scored 19 points and scored on two key layups late in the fourth quarter as the Warriors (19-2) edged the Purple Roses (13-9) in their annual rivalry game.

Sheehan added five rebounds, four assists and four steals and scored to put Manasquan ahead 54-53 and again to make it 56-53 with under two minutes to play.

Senior Ryan Jensen scored 17 points and also grabbed 11 rebounds and blocked five shots, while junior Tommy Sheehan added eight points and six rebounds.

Senior John Krotulis led St. Rose with 17 points, while senior Billy Frost and junior Brendan Hueth scored 11 each in defeat.

No. 7 Rumson-Fair Haven 71, Middletown North 49

Senior Brendan Barry scored a career-high 50 points, the most in the Shore Conference since 2002, and the Bulldogs (17-4) blitzed the Lions (13-8). The scoring total is the most since Nolan Hall scored 52 for Southern against Brick 14 years ago.

No. 2 Mater Dei Prep 67, Notre Dame 55

Senior NyQuan McCombs scored 14 of his team-high 16 points in the second half and the Seraphs (20-1) beat the Irish (19-2), who entered Saturday ranked No. 12 in N.J. according to NJ.com, to extend their winning streak to 17 games.

Junior Elijah Barnes added 14 points and six blocks while senior Kyle Elliot chipped in 13 points, four steals and six blocks. Junior Elijah Mitchell also added 13 points and 10 rebounds, including nine points in the first half.

Mater Dei trailed at halftime before taking a two-point lead heading into the fourth and outscoring Notre Dame 20-10 over the final eight minutes.

Ewing 67, Point Beach 47

Senior Mike Rice scored 14 points but the Garnet Gulls (13-9) fell to the Blue Devils (17-3) at the Primetime Shootout.

 

Regular Season

Henry Hudson 59, Barack Obama Academy 23

Senior Tyler DeFillippo scored a game-high 18 points and the Admirals (10-10) qualified for the Shore Conference Tournament for the first time in 10 years with Saturday's win. Senior Chris Coberg added 10 points for Henry Hudson.

Southern 85, Newark Arts 45

Senior Peyton Wejnert scored 31 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to help the Rams (14-7) coast to a win over Newark Arts.

Junior Mark Valeriani added 18 points on six three-pointers and senior Ethan Dubois chipped in nine points, 10 assists and four steals for Southern.

Barnegat 68, Academy Charter 53

Sophomore Mike Revello scored 32 points to set a new school single-game scoring record and the Bengals (6-16) snapped a seven-game losing streak by beating Academy Charter.

Central 70, ACIT 56

Junior Maks Gruszecki scored 21 points and the Golden Eagles (11-11) beat Atlantic Tech (5-14) to clinch a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament.
