RED BANK - Red Bank senior Sadiq Palmer joined the 1,000-point club Tuesday in a 51-40 Bucs loss at rival Red Bank Catholic.

Palmer entered the game one point shy of the milestone, but went scoreless in the first half. He stepped to the free-throw line in the third quarter and converted to hit the 1,000-point plateau.

Palmer finished with 12 points and now has 1,011 during his four-year varsity career. He was 12 points away heading into a game at Colts Neck on Thursday but fouled out with 11 points - with the potential milestone-setting basket being wiped off the board due to an offensive foul that was his fifth of the game.

Tuesday's achievement makes Palmer the second Shore Conference player to join the 1,000-point club this season. Manchester senior Jordan Torney scored his 1,000th point on a dunk in a win over Jacksn Liberty on Friday night. The next player to hit the milestone will likely be senior Riley Collins of Donovan Catholic, who is 33 points away.

Junior Terrence Calandrillo led a balanced Red Bank Catholic scoring effort with 15 points as the Caseys won their second straight since running up an eight-game losing streak. Sophomore Devin Cooper led Red Bank with 14 points Tuesday night.
