Senior Steve Geis cracked 30 points for the sixth straight game, pouring in 33 to lead the Crimson Knights to a win that boosts them above a .500 winning percentage for the first time since opening night.

 

Tuesday, Feb. 20

Non-Division

Toms River North 62, Donovan Catholic 24

Senior Travis Holland scored 21 points and the Mariners coasted to a win over the crosstown Griffins. Sophomore Najae Hallenback added 13 points and classmate Jakari Spence had 11 in the win.

Southern 53, Jackson Liberty 32

Senior Jake DuBois scored 17 points and classmate Thomas Foster added 11 points and 16 rebounds as the Rams handled the Lions.

Lacey 58, Holmdel 57

Junior Carl Swensen buried a game-winning three-pointer just before the final buzzer and the Lions scored a road win over the Hornets. Swensen finished with 26 points, while senior Connor LaMountain led Holmel with 20.

Middletown South 60, Pinelands 50

Senior Ryan Purcell scored 23 points and sophomore James Anderson added 18 off the bench to pace the Eagles in a win over the Wildcats.

Manalapan 60, Central 57

Senior Alex Purzynski scored a game-high 22 points and sophomore Ryan Knorr poured in 16 to lead the Braves past the Golden Eagles. Junior Darius Martorano led Central with 21 points.

Matawan 69, Marlboro 48

Sophomore Darrell Rogers scored a career-high 27 points and the Huskies returned to the floor for the first time since an upset loss at the hands of Brick in the SCT first round by hammering the Mustangs.

Senior Reggie Tawiah added 10 points and 14 rebounds while senior Mike Dunne pitched in nine points, 10 rebounds and eight assists. Sophomore Alex Ratner led Marlboro with 17 points.

Barnegat 42, Red Bank 36

Senior Mike Revello scored 17 points and the Bengals topped the Bucs to set a single-season program record for wins with their 19th of the season.

Manchester 46, Toms River South 27

Senior Jerry Ward scored 17 points and the Hawks shut down the Indians.

Point Boro 72, Howell 60

Connor Costigan scored 18 points to go with seven rebounds and the Panthers beat the Rebels thanks to four players who cracked double-figure scoring. Senior Connor Strickland added 14 points, seven rebounds, six assists and four steals, senior John Duda had 14 points, five rebounds and four assists, and senior John Chipak contributed 11 pointe and 10 rebounds for Point Boro.

Senior Nasiem Brantley led Howell with a game-high 25 points.

Brick Memorial 48, Shore 30

Senior Anthony Argondizza scored 24 points to lead the Mustangs past the Blue Devils, who were led by 17 points for junior Kyle Koob.

Red Bank Catholic 66, St. Rose 56

Sophomore Charlie Gordinier scored 21 points on seven three-pointers and classmate Kevin Bauman added 10 points to lead the Caseys past the Purple Roses. Senior Dave Calloway led St. Rose with a game-high 25 points

Union 60, Long Branch 49

Senior Tyree Morris scored 22 points but it wasn't enough as the Green Wave fell at home to the Farmers.

University 90, Asbury Park 78

Senior Alquan Dwight put up a monster line with 40 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists and six steals to lead the Phoenix past the Blue Bishops.

 

Wednesday, Feb. 21

Non-Division

No. 5 Neptune 68, Middletown North 45

Senior Jared Kimbrough scored 24 points, including the 1,000th of his varsity career, to lead the Scarlet Fliers past the Lions. Kimbrough reached the milestone on a one-handed dunk with 7:10 left in the third quarter and also added 14 rebounds and three blocked shots during his big night.

Junior Rob Higgins led Middletown North with a game-high 27 points.

Toms River East 75, Monroe 56

Sophomore Ryan Goodall scored 18 points while adding three assists and five steals to pace the Raiders to a win over the Falcons. Senior Nick Silvia added 16 points for Toms River East.

Lakewood 72, Hightstown 63

Sophomore Ryan Savoy scored 24 points and senior Kevin Dent added 18 to help the Piners beat the Rams - the No. 3 seed in the Central Jersey Group IV tournament.

Senior Steve Geis poured in 29 points to lead the Crimson Knights past the Bucs, which snapped a streak of six straight games with at leas 30 points.

Sophomore Matt Weidman led Red Bank with 22.

Howell 75, Matawan 67

Senior Eddie Morales totaled 16 points, nine rebounds and five assists while setting the program's all-time rebounding record in a win over the Huskies. Nasiem Brantley added 17 and Brandon Wilson pitched in 14.

Senior Mike Dunne led Matawan with 28 points, eight rebounds and five steals.

Lacey at Brick, 5 p.m.

Ocean 59, St. John Vianney 44

Senior Andrew Seager scored 24 points and grabbed 13 boards to pace the Spartans to a win over the Lancers.

Donovan Catholic 53, St. Rose 52

Senior Anthony Silvestrone scored 24 points to lead the Griffins to a win over the Purple Roses.

Barnegat 48, Red Bank Catholic 37

Alex Grogan scored 14 points and Mike Revello added 13 to spark the Bengals to a win over the Caseys and add to their school-record win total by reaching the 20-win mark for the first time ever.

Middletown North 84, Marlboro 74

Rob Higgins scored 40 points and handed out seven assists to lead the Lions past the Mustangs. Senior Dave Campbell added 19 points for Middletown North, while sophomore Alex Ratner and senior Eddie Paladino each scored 20 points to lead Marlboro.

Toms River North 73, New Egypt 38

Sophomore Jakari Spence posted 19 points, seven assists and eight steals to highlight a Mariners win over the Warriors. Sophomore Najae Hallenback and junior Nick Duncsak each added 12 points for Toms River North.

Southern 56, Pennsauken 40

Senior Jake DuBois pumped in 28 points and Thomas Foster threw in 17 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Rams.

Asbury Park at Long Branch, Cancelled

Shore 69, Jackson Liberty 38

Junior Chris Panduri poured in 20 points to lead the Blue Devils in a one-sided win over the Lions.

Howell 59, Sayreville 52

Senior Nasiem Brantley scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds to lead the Rebels to a win over the Bombers. Senior Brandon Wilson also scored 13 points in the win.

Point Boro 68, Colts Neck 66

Senior Connor Strickland scored 20 points to go with five assists and five steals as the Panthers topped the Cougars. Senior John Chipak also contributed 17 points and 10 rebounds for Point Boro.

Senior Danny Gaines led Colts Neck with 22 points.

Neptune 57, Middletown South 48

Sam Fagan hit five three-pointers during Neptune's 17-0 first-quarter run and the Scarlet Fliers held off the Eagles for their 20th win of the season.

Holmdel 53, Central 51

Senior Johnny Christian hit the game-winning three-pointer with four seconds left and the Hornets edged the Golden Eagles on the road. Christian finished with 10 points while sophomore Doug Chan led a balanced scoring effort with 11.

Raritan 59, Piscataway Tech 52

Senior Zach Mojica led four players in double-figures with 15 points to help lead the Rockets past Piscataway Tech. Junior Rob LaVilla added 13 points while juniors Tyrese Bryant and Tim Hayes added 12 apiece.
