No. 6 Marlboro 64, Manalapan 56

Junior Alex Ratner scored 20 points while adding three assists and three steals to guide the Mustangs (1-1, 1-1) to a win over the Braves (1-1, 1-1).

Senior Dylan Kaufman chipped in 12 points and 12 rebounds and junior Ramon Fontanes added 11 points for Marlboro.

Junior Ryan Knorr led Manalapan with 15 points, while classmate Ryan Szatkowski added 13 and fellow junior Tomas Bublis poured in 12 in defeat.

Middletown South 64, Howell 55

Junior Jack Sheridan rained down eight three-pointers en route to a career-high 30 points and the Eagles (1-1, 1-1) raced past the Rebels (0-3, 0-2).

Junior James Anderson added 15 points, sophomore Luke Albrect pitched in nine points, three assists and four steals, and junior Bobby Pirie posted four points and 11 rebounds for Middletown South.

Senoir Nick Hornung led Howell with 24 points and senior Matt Ganter added 15 in the loss.

No. 2 CBA 82, Long Branch 46

Senior center Josh Cohen scored a career-high 34 points and the Colts (2-0, 2-0) rolled to a win over the Green Wave (0-2, 0-2).

 

Class A Central

Shore 62, Monmouth 42

Senior Chris Panduri scored a game-high 26 points and classmate Kyle Koob netted 20 to lead the Blue Devils (1-1, 1-1) past the Falcons (0-2, 0-2).

For the second straight game, Monmouth was tight with its A Central opponent at halftime before the game got away in the second half. Shore held a 32-28 edge at halftime and blew the game open with a 30-14 second half.

Senior Dan Forsman led Monmouth with 23 points and eight rebounds.

No. 3 Manasquan 65, No. 4, Rumson-Fair Haven 48

Senior Brad McCabe scored 19 points and grabbed 14 rebounds as the Warriors (3-0, 2-0) accelerated past the Bulldogs (1-1, 1-1) in the second half to win their third straight to open the season.

McCabe scored 10 of his 19 in the third quarter, during which Manasquan outscored Rumson 21-12, capped by a three-pointer by sophomore Casey Mulligan (eight points) as the quarter expired.

That three by Mulligan was part of a 19-2 Manasquan run that spanned the latter half of the third quarter and the first two minutes of the fourth, swinging a 36-31 deficit into a commanding 50-38 lead.

Junior Alex Galvan overcame first-half foul trouble to post 14 points and eight rebounds, including 12 points in the second half. Freshman guard Ben Roy hit double-figure scoring for the third straight game to open his career, finishing with 10 points to go with four assists.

Senior Ian O'Connor led Rumson with a game-high 23 points, including 17 during the first half, while senior Jackson McCarthy added 11 in the loss - Rumson's first regular-season defeat to a Shore Conference opponent since February of 2016.

No. 7 Red Bank Catholic 41, St. Rose 33

Senior Stephen Lubischer and juniors Charlie Gordinier and Kevin Bauman all scored 12 points apiece to help the Caseys (2-0, 2-0) battle past the Purple Roses (0-2, 0-2).

Junior Kevin Tombs led St. Rose with a game-high 15 points.

 

Class B North

Wall 72, Middletown North 59

Junior Quinn Calabrese poured in 27 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the Crimson Knights (2-0, 2-0) rode a second-half surge past the Lions (1-1, 1-1).

After trailing 32-29 at halftime, Wall erupted for 43 second-half points, including a 13-for-14 performance from the free-throw line in the fourth quarter.

Freshman Colin Ackerman added 13 points for Wall and juniors Trey Dombroski and Michael Caputo netted 10 apiece.

Senior Rob Higgins drained a game-high 34 points for Middletown North to cross the 1,600-point career threshold (1,608).

No. 5 Neptune 52, Ocean 44

Sophomore Sam Fagan led a balanced offensive effort with 14 points and the Scarlet Fliers (1-1, 1-1) bounced back from Friday's last-second loss at Matawan by topping the Spartans (0-2, 0-2).

Senior Dwaine Jones added 11 points, five rebounds and seven assists for Neptune, junior Sean Young scored 10 behind 3-for-4 shooting from three-point range and sophomore Evertt Cheavers netted nine in the win.

Senior Jack Miller scored a game-high 20 points to lead Ocean, but the Neptune defense limited him to 7-for-24 shooting and 4-for-12 from beyond the arc. Freshman Corey Miller backed up his brother with 14 points in the loss.

 

Non-Conference

Somerset Tech 48, Keansburg 39

Sophomore Devin Acker scored 12 points and classmate Davon Jackson added 10 as the Titans (1-1) fell to the Jaguars (1-0).
