Class A North

Marlboro 63, No. 8 Freehold Twp. 52

Senior Michael Jastrzebski scored a game-high 19 points and the Mustangs (13-7, 9-5) beat the Patriots (15-6, 10-3) to snap Freehold Township's eight-game winning streak. The Marlboro win also gives CBA the outright Class A North championship.

Jastrzebski was one of five Marlboro players in double figures, joined by junior Ryan LaRocca (12), junior P.J. Ringel (11), freshman Dylan Kaufman (11) and junior Daniel Weiss (10). Jastrzebski scored 10 points in the first quarter, during which the Mustangs stormed out to a 23-10 lead.

Senior John Carroll led Freehold Township with 15 points and junior Ryan Zyskowski added 12 in defeat.

 

Class A South

No. 4 Toms River North 81, Jackson Memorial 55

Junior Mike Nyisztor scored 31 points and buried nine three-pointers to lead the Mariners (19-2, 14-0) to a win over the Jaguars (9-9, 7-7), capping an unbeaten season in Class A South for Toms River North.

Junior Jaden Rhoden added 11 points and junior Darrion Carrington chipped in six points and 14 assists for the Mariners. Seniors Hunter Petrick and Pat Marinaccio each added nine points in the win.

 

Class B North

Long Branch 67, Neptune 45

Seniors Jamar Foster and Anthony Velazquez combined for 47 points on Senior Night as the Green Wave (14-6, 11-3) wrapped up its regular season by beating the Scarlet Fliers (8-12, 5-9) for a second time this year.

Foster finished with a game-high 25 points while Velazquez added 22. Junior Barry Brown led Neptune with 24 points.

 

Class B South

No. 10 Lakewood 71, No. 9 Manchester 65

Senior Amir Tyler scored 14 of his game-high 24 points in the first half and the Piners (16-4, 13-1) held off the Hawks (15-5, 11-3) to clinch the Class B South championship, Lakewood's sixth straight outright division title and eighth straight season with at least a share of a division title. The Piners tied for the Class B South Public Division title in 2008-09 and 2009-10.

Tyler also had six rebounds, six assists, three steals and two blocks in the win. Senior Sean Barksdale added 17 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for Lakewood and hit a key three-pointer with just under four minutes left to give Lakewood a 58-53 lead after Manchester had cut its deficit to two.

Junior Ryzson Barnes also put up 11 points and nine rebounds for Lakewood, while sophomore Zyheir Jones scored all six of his points in the final two minutes to help the Piners put the game away.

Senior Shavar Reynolds led Manchester with 24 points, eight rebounds and five assists while junior L.J. Robinson scored 10 of his 21 points in the first quarter. Senior Jordan Torney also scored 10 points in the loss.

Donovan Catholic 55, Central 48

Senior Mike Boice scored 23 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to lead the Griffins (12-8, 10-4) to a win over the Golden Eagles (10-11, 5-9). Senior Riley Collins chipped in 17 points and four assists while senior Tyler McShea added six points and 13 rebounds.

Point Boro 71, Pinelands 62

Senior Matt VanNostrand and junior Jack Waddleton scored 17 points each and the Panthers (10-9, 6-8) topped the Wildcats (9-12, 6-8) to clinch a spot in the Shore Conference Tournament while also eliminating Pinelands from tournament contention.

Sophomore John Duda also scored 15 points for Point Boro while senior Anthony Trainor chipped in 11 in the win.

Senior Dave Lunn led Pinelands with 26 points and 11 rebounds while senior Luke Stambaugh poured in 16 points in the loss.

 

Non-Division

Red Bank Catholic 61, Jackson Liberty 55

Senior Evan Madigan and junior Terrence Calandrillo each scored 18 points and the Caseys (10-11) beat the Lions (4-14) to keep their hopes of a Shore Conference Tournament berth alive. RBC would qualify for the tournament by beating St. John Vianney on Saturday.

Senior Eddie Hahn poured in 13 points for Red Bank Catholic. Freshman Dan Sofield led Jackson Liberty with a game-high 27.

 

Non-Conference

Brick 75, Academy Charter 45

Shane Williams scored 15 points and the Green Dragons (13-8) coasted to a win over Academy Charter to cap their regular season.
