Jack Fay scored a game-high 17 points and the Warriors (2-0) cruised past Roselle and into the Buc Classic semifinals, where they will face the winner of Colts Neck vs. Monmouth.

Sophomore Lloyd Daniels scored a team-high 11 points and the Cougars got past the Falcons to advance to the semifinals Saturday against Manasquan. Daniel Curtis led Monmouth with 12 points.

(4) Middletown North 54, (5) Red Bank 50

Senior Brian Esser scored a game-high 20 points to go with 11 rebounds and the Lions held off the host Bucs to advance to Saturday's semifinals against top-seeded Shore. Senior Ian Wyckoff added 15 points while junior Dylan Frawley chipped in seven points and 14 rebounds.

Sophomore Sadiq Palmer led Red Bank with 16 points.

(1) Shore 57, (8) Freehold 33

Senior Dan Pillari scored 17 points and the Blue Devils (1-2) opened up a close game at halftime by outscoring the Colonials (0-2) 35-13 in the second half. Shore will play No. 4 Middletown North in Saturday's semifinal.

Husky Classic
First Round

Old Bridge 63, St. John Vianney 48

Sophomores Zach Howarth (14 points) and Grant Goode combined for 25 points, but the Lancers came up short against the Knights in the first round of the Husky Classic. Old Bridge senior Tyler Drews scored 24 points, including the 1,000th of his career.

Matawan 56, Manalapan 42

Junior Jason Dunne scored 16 of his game-high 23 points in the first half and the Huskies (2-1) cruised to a win over the Braves (0-2) in the Husky Classic opening round. Junior Joe Piscopo added 10 points for Matawan, while junior Zach Misischia led Manalapan with 14 points.

Sophomore Jamar Foster scored 12 points on 4-for-5 shooting from three-pointer range and the Green Wave (2-0) beat the Minutemen in the Neptune Holiday Jubilee. Senior Myson Pennington added 10 points and 10 rebounds while senior Terrel Cox poured in 11 points for Long Branch.

Junior Milanj Coursey scored 16 points and sophomore Luke Stambaugh had 15, but the Wildcats fell to Oakcrest in the first round of the Score at the Shore Classic. Senior D.J. Kidd also scored 11 points for Pinelands.

(3) Jackson Liberty 51, (6) Howell 44

Senior Jame Sofield scored 30 points and grabbed seven rebounds and the Lions (2-1) led wire-to-wire in a win over the Rebels (0-2). Senior Mike Healy added 14 points, five rebounds and three steals.

(2) Southern 71, (7) Robbinsville 45

Senior Mike Gesicki scored a game-high 18 points and the Rams coasted to a win over the Ravens in the opening round of the Score at the Shore Classic, which also served as their season-opener. Southern will play Jackson Liberty in the semifinals on Saturday.

Cranford 86, Marlboro 85 (4 OT)

Junior George Elghoul scored 25 points, including a go-ahead free-throw in the final seconds of the fourth overtime, but the Cougars scored as time expired to send the Mustangs to their third straight narrow defeat to open the season.

Justin Markowitz added 24 points, five rebounds and five assists for Marlboro, while Matt Ringel posted 11 points and 18 rebounds in the loss.

Middletown South 43, South Plainfield 41

Dan Roibal scored 15 points and the Eagles (1-1) edged the Tigers to advance to the semifinals of the Anthony Cotoia Tournament. Middletown South will take on Perth Amboy in Saturday's semifinal at 5:30 p.m.

Senior guard Matt Farrell scored 22 points and the Garnet Gulls (2-0) topped the Farmers (3-1) to advance to Monday's championship game against Colonia. Senior Noah Yates added 16 points and senior Dom Uhl poured in 14 in the win.

Colonia 51, Holmdel 36

Senior Gerard Nocera scored 13 of his 15 points in the first half to keep the Hornets (2-2) close, but the Patriots pulled away with a 35-16 second half to beat Holmdel and advance to Monday's final against Point Beach.

Junior Ryan Lawrence scored a game-high 17 points while seniors Ben Watson and Dan Niblack each posted double-doubles in the Piners' win over the Sussex Tech of Delaware. Watson scored 16 points and grabbed 15 rebounds and Niblack had 13 points and 12 boards.

Senior Maurice Diawara chipped in 10 points and eight assists for Lakewood (3-0), which will play Rancocas Valley in the championship on Sunday.

Matt Martinez had 36 points, nine rebounds, eight assists and six steals while knocking down six 3-pointers to lead the Rams past the Titans (0-2) in the South River Tournament opening round. Keansburg will play Henry Hudson in the consolation round Saturday at 11 a.m.
