Class A South

Southern 59, Jackson Memorial 54

Senior Jake Logue scored 31 points to go with 10 rebounds and the Rams held off the Jaguars for their third straight win. Senior Eric Ray added 11 points, 10 rebounds and seven blocks, while junior Peyton Wejnert poured in 14 points. Friday's game marked the first time this season that Wejnert did not reach 20 points in a game.

Logue is now 16 points away from 1,000 in his career. the four-year varsity starter will look to reach the milestone Saturday, when Southern travels to play Millville.

Jimmy Markham and Chris Hawryluk each scored 17 points to lead Jackson Memorial.

Toms River South 68, Brick Memorial 65

Senior Tymere Berry erupted for 42 points, 16 rebounds and six assists to carry the Indians to a road win over the streaking Mustangs. Berry shot 14-for-22 from the field, 5-for-7 from three-point range and 9-for-12 from the free-throw line, where he scored his 40th point with 48.9 seconds.

Berry scored 23 points in the first half, which he capped by drilling his fifth consecutive three-point attempt in the final seconds of the second quarter.

Senior Scott White led Brick Memorial with 26 points and the Mustangs battled back from a 56-44 deficit with 6:30 left to get the ball back down by three with 9.6 seconds left. The Mustangs got the ball to leading three-point shooter Aaron Scheiderman (16 points), but his contested, fadeaway three from the right corner hit the side of the backboard.

Indians junior Tyler Fall scored 12 of his 14 points in the second half, including seven during a 13-0 run that turned a 42-36 deficit into a 49-42 lead for Toms River South with just under two minutes left in the third quarter.

No. 2 Toms River North 75, Brick 44

Sophomore Mike Nyisztor scored 13 of his game-high 18 points in the third quarter and the Mariners rolled to a win over the Green Dragons. Senior Evan Martin added 12 points and five steals, while junior Pat Marinaccio chipped in 10 points and eight rebounds. Senior Kenny Buell led Brick Memorial with 12 points and four assists.

Toms River East 59, Lacey 52

Junior Ryan West knocked down six threes and finished with a team-high 23 points to help lead the Raiders to a win over the Lions. Phil Lingat also poured in 10 points in the win.

Senior Chris Iapicco led Lacey with a game-high 34 points.

 

Class B Central

Henry Hudson at Ranney, 5:30 p.m.

Point Beach 87, Asbury Park 53

Juniors Jimmy Panzini and Mike Rice led five Point Beach players in double-figures with 17 points and the Garnet Gulls rolled through the Blue Bishops. Senior Mike Frauenheim scored 16 points, while freshman Danny Frauenheim had 13 with freshman Trevor Covey adding 10.

Shaleek Davis led Asbury Park with 13 points.

St. Rose 53, Mater Dei Prep 35

Senior Nolan Slattery scored a game-high 18 points and the Purple Roses blew open a one-point game with an 11-0 run to close the third and put away the Seraphs.

 

Class B South

Central 68, Barnegat 37

Senior Evan Lang scored 17 of his game-high 20 points in the second half and the Golden Eagles shook off a slow start to rout the Bengals, halting their four-game winning streak. Barnegat grabbed a 12-7 lead after one quarter, but Central went on a 16-6 second quarter run to take the lead and outscored the Bengals 45-19 in the second half.

Sophomore Jaden Rhoden added 18 points for Central - including 13 in the third quarter, while freshman Mike Revello and senior Ricky Gerena each scored six to lead Barnegat.

No. 10 Lakewood 64, Point Boro 36

Senior Ryan Lawrence scored 17 points to go with six rebounds and the Piners coasted to a win over the Panthers. Junior Sean Barksdale added 13 points and seven rebounds, junior Tyreek Grayson chipped in 11 points and five assists, while senior Chapelle Cook netted eight points to go with 18 rebounds.

Donovan Catholic 59, Pinelands 53

Senior James Fata scored 18 points and the Griffins topped the Wildcats on the road in B South. Junior Riley Collins added 15 points and five steals and senior Alex Morte chipped in 10 points and four assists in the win.

Junior Dave Lunn led Pinelands with 18 points to match Fata for a game-high.

Manchester 53, Jackson Liberty 52

Junior Jordan Torney hit two free throws in the final seconds of the game to give Manchester the lead and the Hawks (7-2, 6-0) erased a 12-point, second-half deficit to beat the Lions and remain unbeaten in Class B South.

Torney led Manchester with 14 points and sophomore teammate L.J. Robinson added 13. Senior Howard Taylor poured in a game-high 16 to lead Jackson Liberty, while senior J'Son Clark added 14 and senior Lateef Foster contributed 10.

 

Non-Division

Long Branch 52, Freehold Boro 51

Sophomores Fred Reeves and Cascius Briggs each scored 14 points and the Green Wave edged the Colonials for their first win of the season. Freshman Tyree Morris also scored 10 points in the win.

Daniel Gewirtz led Freehold with a game-high 19 points and Jake Curry added 14 in the loss.
