Class A North

Howell 52, Manalapan 38

Senior Eddie Morales led a well-rounded Howell offensive effort with 12 points and also added eight rebounds as the Rebels (5-3, 2-3) topped the Braves (4-6, 1-4) for their fifth straight win. Senior Nasiem Brantley and junior Matt Ganter added nine points each, with Brantley also grabbing 10 rebounds.

Marlboro 60, Freehold Twp. 49

Senior Brian Levine scored a career-high 21 points and also pitched in four assists and four steals to lead the Mustangs (6-4, 4-2) past the Patriots (3-6, 1-4). Sophomore Alex Ratner also poured in 20 points and junior Dylan Kaufman posted 11 points and 11 rebounds.

Senior Joe Gargiulo and junior Greg Billups each scored 10 points and freshman Zach Orrico added nine.

Billups's appearance was just his second of the season after missing the first seven games with an ankle injury. He returned in Tuesday's loss to Howell and scored five points.

 

Class A Central

No. 9 Matawan 56, Holmdel 49

Senior Reggie Tawiah scored 13 points and hauled down eight rebounds to help the Huskies (7-2, 4-1) hold off the Hornets (4-5, 1-4). Senior Mike Dunne also pitched in 12 points, seven rebounds and four assists for Matawan.

Raritan 50, Red Bank 47

Senior Zach Mojica buried a three-pointer as time expired and the Rockets (5-4, 2-2) beat the Bucs (1-9, 0-4) in dramatic fashion. Mojica and junior Rob Lavilla each finished with 13 points to lead Raritan, while juniors Tyrese Bryant and Tim Hayes added nine apiece in the win.

Junior Liam Joyce led Red Bank with 10 points and junior Luke Sprauer added nine in the loss.

No. 3 Rumson-Fair Haven 78, Shore 35

Junior Jackson McCarthy and senior Elijah McAllister scored 14 points each and McAllister blocked seven shots to highlight a Bulldogs (7-1, 4-0) rout of the Blue Devils (5-5, 3-2). Junior Ian O'Connor added eight points and sophomore Phil Wheeler poured in eight for Rumson.

 

Class B North

Long Branch 52, Wall 34

Senior Tyree Morris scored 17 points and senior T.J. Fosque added 10 points and 10 rebounds to help lead the Green Wave (4-4, 3-2) past the Crimson Knights (3-6, 1-5).

Senior Steve Geis also scored 17 points to lead Wall.

No. 5 Manasquan 54, Middletown North 44

Senior Ryan Flanagan scored 13 points to go with five rebounds and seven assists as the Warriors (9-0, 5-0) held off the Lions (4-6, 2-3) for their ninth straight win to open the season.

Juniors Xander Korolik and Brad McCabe added 12 points each for Manasquan, with Korolik also pulling down seven rebounds.

Senior Dave Campbell led Middletown North with 13 points and seven rebounds and senior Sky Cherry added 11 points and eight boards. Lions leading scorer Rob Higgins was on the bench in street clothes for the second straight game with an undisclosed ailment.

Ocean 74, Monmouth 50

Sophomore Jack Miller scored a career-high 30 points and tied a school record with nine three-pointers to lead the Spartans (6-5, 4-2) past the Falcons (0-9, 0-6) for their fourth straight win. Senior Andrew Seager also poured in 25 points for Ocean.

No. 10 Red Bank Catholic 59, Middletown South 51

Senior Matt Ansell and junior Matt Conley each scored 12 points and the Caseys (8-3, 4-2) put away the Eagles (5-5, 3-2) with a strong final 12 minutes.

RBC jumped out to a 17-4 lead after the first quarter before Middletown South answered with a 12-0 run to pull within one. The Eagles later drew within 30-28, at which point the Caseys closed the third quarter on a 13-5 run to take a 10-point lead into the fourth.

Sophomore Charlie Gordinier and junior Stephen Lubischer each added 11 points for Red Bank Catholic.

Senior Ryan Purcell led Middletown South with 19 points, all of which came in the second half. Senior Dave Gervase also scored 11 and senior Nick Unrath added nine in the loss.
