Opening Round

(10) Neptune 70, (23) Howell 45

Keishawn Kirkwood led a balanced scoring effort with 14 points and the Scarlet Fliers (13-9) stormed past the Rebels (10-11) and into Thursday's SCT round of 16 against No. 7 Manalapan. Barry Brown added 13 points and Micah Kerr chipped in eight points on 4-for-6 shooting with six rebounds.

Howell senior Aaron Trimble led all scorers with 25 points.

(15) Point Beach 59, (18) Matawan 54

Jimmy Panzini scored a game-high 20 points and the Garnet Gulls (16-7) beat the Huskies (11-10) in a rematch of last year's SCT semifinals, setting up a round-of-16 showdown at No. 2 Lakewood.

Senior Jesse Hill added 18 points and eight rebounds for Point Beach, while Mergim Gjyriqi led Matawan with 16.

Point Beach lost its regular-season game at Lakewood on Jan. 5, 52-49, on a three at the buzzer by Piners junior Tyreek Grayson.

(16) Red Bank Catholic 62, (17) Manchester 38

Senior Joe Montano buried five three-pointers and finished with a game-high 18 points to lead the Caseys (12-9) to a rout of the Hawks (13-6). Red Bank Catholic will travel to play top seed and rival CBA Thursday in the round of 16.

Evan Madigan added 14 points for RBC, while Eddie Hahn poured in 10 in the win, which snapped a four-game Caseys losing streak. Israel Almestica led Manchester with 14 points.

(8) Manasquan 78, (25) Asbury Park 38

Aidan McMenaman scored a game-high 15 points and Kyle Bradshaw and Ryan Jensen each posted a double-double as the Warriors (17-4) handled the Blue Bishops (9-9) to advance to Thursday's round of 16, when they will host No. 9 Colts Neck.

Bradshaw finished with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Jensen chipped in 12 points, 10 rebounds, four assists and three blocks.

(9) Colts Neck 60, (24) Pinelands 37

Chris O'Reilly scored 14 points and Lloyd Daniels returned from a four-game absence to scored 12 as the Cougars (13-6) jumped on the Wildcats (12-9) and advanced to earn a Thursday trip to play No. 8 Manasquan in the round of 16. Daniels missed Colts Neck's last four games due to an ankle injury but returned nearly two weeks earlier than the team's original expectation.

David Lunn led Pinelands with 14 points in the Wildcats' first ever Shore Conference Tournament game.

(12) Southern 47, (21) Donovan Catholic 45

Jake Logue scored 15 points and the Rams (17-5) survived to beat the Griffins (10-9) and advance to a Thursday match-up against No. 5 Wall in the SCT round of 16. Junior Peyton Wejnert added 11 points in his return from an ankle injury that sidelined him for three games.

Southern advanced despite shooting 18-for-35 from the free-throw line as a team. Mike Boice led a balanced scoring effort for Donovan Catholic with 13 points..

(13) Shore 73, (20) Marlboro 47

Senior Dan Largey scored a career-high 41 points to carry the Blue Devils (15-4) to a rout over the Mustangs (10-9), avenging last year's SCT first-round home loss to Marlboro. The Blue Devils to travel to No. 4 Toms River North in Thursday's round of 16.

Largey started the game red hot, scoring 18 first-quarter points on 5-for-5 shooting from behind the three-point arc. He finished with seven threes in the game while shooting 16-for-17 from the free-throw line.

Jack Byrne added 16 points for Shore, while George Elghoul led Marlboro with 11.

(14) Toms River South 59, (19) Central 56

Senior Tymere Berry converted an acrobatic reverse layup with 25 seconds left to give the Indians a one-point lead and knocked down two free throws with eight seconds left to help Toms River South (15-6) edge the rival Golden Eagles (11-9) and advance to a round of 16 game Thursday at No. 3 Freehold Township.

Berry finished with 18 points and 16 rebounds, while Khaleel Greene led the Indians with 20 points. Junior Tyler Fall also poured in 16 points for Toms River South.

John Forrester led Central with 20 points while sophomore Elijah Barnes netted 11 for the Golden Eagles, who missed a desperation heave as time expired to end the game.
