LAKEWOOD, NJ - Mike Micucci has been named the new BlueClaws manager as the 2019 coaching staff was announced today in conjunction with the Philadelphia Phillies. Micucci joins the BlueClaws from the Seattle Mariners, where he was the Coordinator of Organization Instruction.

Micucci will be joined on the staff by pitching coach Matt Hockenberry, hitting coach Christian Marrero, coach Adam Godwin, trainer Kris Terrian, and strength and conditioning coach Bruce Peditto.

"We are very excited to welcome Mike to the BlueClaws and the Jersey Shore," said BlueClaws Team President Joe Ricciutti. "The BlueClaws look forward to working with the staff as we embark on another great season at FirstEnergy Park."

Marty Malloy, who managed the BlueClaws each of the last two seasons and led the team to the SAL Championship Series last year, will manage Hi-A Clearwater in 2019. Under Malloy's direction, the 2018 club won 87 games and he is the winningest manager in BlueClaws history, going 160-111 in two seasons.

Micucci spent the last three years in the Seattle system, two as the Field Coordinator and one as the Coordinator of Organization Instruction. He spent four seasons in the Angels system, including three as the Field Coordinator, prior to joining the Mariners. He has previous managerial experience with Arkansas (Double-A, Angels), Frisco (Double-A, Rangers), Clinton (A, Rangers), and Spokane (Short-Season, Rangers).

Drafted out of Montclair State in the 51st round of the 1994 draft, he played in the Cubs minor league system for six years, advancing as high as Double-A West Tennessee.

Hockenberry spent last year as the pitching coach for the GCL Phillies - West, his first year as a minor league coach. The Temple product was drafted by the Phillies in the ninth round of the 2014 draft and went 12-5 with 28 saves and a 3.38 ERA in 131 professional games. With the BlueClaws in 2015, Hockenberry had a 2.24 ERA and 19 saves, the third most in team history.

Marrero comes to Lakewood from Williamsport, where he served as the hitting coach last year in his first season as a coach. He spent 12 seasons as a minor league player including his final two in the Phillies organization. He also played in the Braves, White Sox, and Pirates organizations through 2017.

Godwin joins the Phillies from the Pirates organization. Last year, he was an assistant coach with Bradenton in the Hi-A Florida State League. He played professionally from 2005 through 2014, reaching as high as Double-A Chattanooga Dodgers organization.

Trainer Kris Terrian is the lone member of last year's staff to return to the Shore. This will be his third season in the organization after making his Phillies debut with Williamsport in 2017. Terrian spent the previous year as the minor league assistant athletic trainer in the Red Sox organization.

Peditto joins the BlueClaws from Williamsport. This will be the second year in the organization for the Mt. Laurel, New Jersey native.
