BAYVILLE -- Explosive junior running back Mike Bickford scored four touchdowns to lead the Golden Eagles to a 35-7 Shore Conference Class B South victory over visiting Barnegat on Friday night.
Senior quarterback Mike Miserendino threw a 41-yard touchdown pass to Anthony Holloway and also had an interception on defense. Senior linebacker Dennis Corbin unofficially finished with three sacks.
Barnegat scored on a 13-yard pass from junior quarterback Joe Monaco to senior wide receiver Nick Camarato.
From the very start the Golden Eagles attack soared on the back of Bickford, who finished the night with 22 carries from scrimmage for 165 rushing yards in a clock-controlling game for Central. Bickford’s moment of the night came after consecutive penalties had moved the Eagles back to the Bengals 35-yard line, and after a couple of juke moves Bickford spun back around to the home sideline for the touchdown.
Bickford’s night was the biggest of them all but shouldn’t overshadow the playmaking abilities from quarterback Mike Miserendino, who threw a 41-yard touchdown launch to Anthony Holloway while rushing for 89 yards.
The lone Bengals score came with 7:26 left in the third with a 13-yard pass to Nick Camarato in the left corner.
Central senior linebacker Denis Corbin recorded three of the four sacks the Eagles had on the night and was involved on numerous other plays.
