Every week this season, Shore Conference football fans will have their chance to vote for the Beacon 70/Shore Sports Network Football Player of the Week on our website.

The Week 5 Player of the Week is Brick Township senior running back and defensive back Tyler Weisneck, who had a career-best game to lead the Dragons to a 24-12 victory over Ocean that pushed their record to 4-1. Weisneck and all Player of the Week winners this season will receive a $25 gift card to Beacon 70 Restaurant.

Last Friday night at Keller Memorial Field, Weisneck turned in one of the best rushing performances in Brick's illustrious history by running for a career-high 306 yards and two touchdowns on 25 carries. He opened the scoring with a 50-yard touchdown run and added an 11-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter. He also ran for a 2-point conversion. Weisneck's total could have been even bigger as, according to Brick head coach Len Zdanowicz, he had two touchdowns and close to 100 yards called back on penalties.

Weisneck's monster effort wasn't limited to the offensive side of the ball. On defense, he totaled 11 tackles, forced a fumble, and broke up a pass.

On the season, Weisneck has rushed for 719 yards and six touchdowns on a massive average of 9.8 yards per carry, along with 19 tackles and two sacks on defense.

Brick returns to action on Friday night for a huge game with Middletown North. Brick, Middletown North, and Lacey are all tied for first place in the Independence Division with two weeks left in the regular season.

Weisneck won the Player of the Week poll over Manalapan's Anthony Macchio with Middletown North's Brian Haddow finishing third.
