Aidan Supp ripped a tiebreaking two-run double in the bottom of the fourth and the Caseys held off the Cougars to advance to the MCT quarterfinals Sunday against Wall at 11 a.m. at Count Basie Park.

Aaron Ahn and Brian Sheehy each hit two-run home runs, Ahn in the first and Sheehy in the third.

Colts Neck took a 5-4 lead with four runs in the top of the fourth, highlighted by a two-run double from Brendan Clarke, who finished 4-for-4. Hunter Boag also singled and scored in the inning as part of a 4-for-4 game.

Riley Maypother led off a seven-run fifth inning with his third home run of the season and the Purple Roses closed out the Mustangs to remain unbeaten and earn a trip to the MCT quarterfinals, which they will host Sunday against Freehold Boro. Will Gannon added a two-run triple in the inning that made it 10-1 and Brody Maypother drew a one-out walk with the bases loaded to end it.

Marlboro went 0-for-7 against Mology with runners in scoring position and the senior right-hander stranded the bases loaded in the third and fifth innings. He coaxed an inning-ending 1-6-4-3 double play that he deflected right to shortstop Joe Volpe in the third and then struck out cleanup hitter Gene Napolitano for the second out of the fifth before inducing an inning-ending ground out to escape trouble.

 

(7) Ocean 7, (10) Raritan 0

Phil DeMarco pitched a three-hit shutout with five strikeouts on 91 pitches and the Spartans (5-9) beat the Rockets (11-3) to snap an eight-game losing streak and advance to the MCT quarterfinals Sunday at Monmouth Regional.

Ryan Toomey doubled and drove in four runs and Will Callano added two hits and two RBI. Max Winters also doubled and singled in the win and Phil DeMarco helped his cause with a double.

Jake Tennant threw 50 pitches in the loss.

 

(9) Howell 19, (8) Middletown South 0 (5 Innings)

Mike Walsh hit a grand slam during a nine-run first inning and the Rebels (5-8) stormed out of the gate to rout the Eagles (7-6). Howell will play top-seeded CBA Sunday at 2 p.m.

Eddie Morales went 3-for-3 with five RBI and Ryan Bearse was 2-for-2 with a double, three runs scored and two RBI.

Mike Wynne pitched 3 2/3 shutout innings on 56 pitches to earn the win and John Limaldi retired four straight batters to finish it off for Howell. Wynne allowed two hits, walked three and struck out two.

Josh Jackson hit a game-tying two-run home run in the fifth and ripped a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the sixth to lead a come-from-behind win for the Falcons over the Lions. Monmouth will host Ocean Sunday at 11 a.m. in the MCT quarterfinals

Making his first varsity start, freshman Ryan Rozinski hit two home runs and finished 2-for-3 with four RBI. His second home run was a two-run shot that broke a 4-4 tie in the top of the sixth inning.

 

(1) CBA 6, (16) Matawan 4

The Colts (9-4) scored six times in the bottom of the sixth inning to erase a 2-0 deficit and held on to deny an upset bit by the Huskies (9-4). The No. 1 seed in the MCT will host Howell Sunday at 2 p.m. in the quarterfinal round.

Andrea Dalatri tied the game with a one-out, two-run double down the left-field line and Michael Martorano smacked a go-ahead RBI double to deep right field to give CBA a 3-2 lead. Joe Sparber later added a two-run double to the fence in left that proved to be the difference, as Matawan scored twice in the top of the seventh and brought the go-ahead run to the plate.

Nick Hohenstein earned the win on the mound, taking over for Spencer Bauer in the fifth inning. Hohenstein later came back in to pitch with two out in the seventh inning to close out the game after he moved back out to right field. Bauer, meanwhile, struck out seven and walked two in 5 1/3 innings of work.

Steve Salot was 2-for-4 with two RBI for Matawan and Antonio Martinez went 2-for-3 with a double and two runs scored for the Huskies. Salot drove in a run in both the third and seventh innings and Martinez scored a run in each as well.

Jake Burlew pitched into the sixth inning and took the loss while allowing three runs over 5 1/3 frames.

 

(5) Freehold Boro 7, (12) Manasquan 1

Tom Holdorf pitched three-hit ball over six innings and Mark Costanzo, Chris Cassandra and Matt Granato all picked up two hits to lead the Colonials (8-4) to a win over the Warriors (9-5). Freehold Boro will play St. Rose Sunday at 11 a.m. in the MCT quarterfinals.

Holdorf struck out six and walked two to earn the win. Costanzo and Cassandra were both 2-for-3, with Costanzo driving in two and Cassandra doubling and scoring a run. Granato was 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Ricky Flynn took the loss on the mound for Manasquan.

Trey Dombroski overcame three errors by his defense to pitch five strong innings and freshman Teddy Sharkey retired all six batters he faced to record the save as the Crimson Knights beat the Braves and snapped Manalapan's 11-game winning streak. Wall advances to Sunday's MCT quarterfinals against Red Bank Catholic at Count Basie Park in Red Bank.

Pat Barrett went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Nick Simone fired six innings to pick up the win as the Rams (6-4, 5-4) edged the Raiders (2-9, 2-7). Simone allowed three runs on seven hits and two walks while striking out four and throwing 93 pitches.

Zach Oddo was 2-for-3 with a run scored and Nolan Watson doubled and drove in a run for Southern.

Alex Waldron, Jay Longo and losing pitcher Brad Brush (78 pitches in four innings) all went 2-for-3 with an RBI, with Brush notching a double for one of his two hits. Danny Clemente also doubled and scored a run.

Chris Salsano hit a bases-clearing, three-run double in the top of the sixth inning to put Brick on top and the Green Dragons held on to beat the Jaguars. Mike Soldo worked into the sixth inning to earn the win and also singled home a run in the top of the first.

T.J. Scuderi contributed on the mound and at the plate while Jared Kwicinski and Connor Leatherman each smoked two extra-base hits to lead the Indians (10-1) to a win over the Bees (11-5).

Scuderi earned the win on the mound and also chipped in a two-run double to help his cause. Kwicinski went 3-for-3 with two triples and two RBI while Leatherman was 2-for-3 with two doubles and an RBI for Toms River South.
