Cole Hardy hit a three-run home run in the top of the sixth and hit a go-ahead two-run single in the Seraphs' five-run top of the seventh to rally from 4-0 deficit and beat the Lancers. Mater Dei will travel to play No. 5 Middletown South in next Saturday's quarterfinal round.

Kyle Dowlen tied the game with a bases-loaded RBI single with one out in the seventh and after Hardy's go-ahead two-run single, Joe Ruth tacked on two more runs with a two-run double that gave the Seraphs the 8-4 lead.

St. John Vianney starter Logan Marter took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and exited after having thrown five scoreless, one-hit innings. Marter also extended St. John Vianney's lead to 4-0 with a two-run doubled in the third inning.

After the double by Marter, Seraphs starter Matt Paciulli settled in and allowed only two hits and no runs over the final four innings to secure the complete-game victory.

Junior Brandon Mology struck out 10 in a complete-game three-hitter and went 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI as the Purple Roses (9-1) took down the Green Wave (2-9) to advance to the MCT round of 16 next Saturday against No. 3 Howell.

Joe Volpe finished 3-for-3 with three RBI to help lead the St. Rose offense, while Riley Maypother and Tom Blaes each tripled in the win.

Senior Frank Graziano struck out 13 in a six-hit shutout and the Panthers rolled through the Hornets for their 10th straight win to open the season.  Graziano also limited Holmdel to two walks and drove in two runs in a 1-for-3 day at the plate.

Bill Feehan went 4-for-4 at the plate with two runs scored and an RBI, Sam Monaco was 2-for-4 with a pair of runs scored and Mark Leyble belted a solo home run. Patrick Feehan and Sebastian Severio each went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI.

Mike Carannante went 2-for-3 for Holmdel in the loss.

No. 4 Middletown South 14, Donovan Catholic 2 (5 Innings)

Ryan Ruziecki went 2-for-3 with a home run, a triple and four RBI and six different players doubled to lead the Eagles to a rout of the Griffins.

Tom Frandsen went 2-for-2 with a double and four RBI andJeff Lewandowski was 2-for-2 with a double and two runs scored. Johnny Zega and Jon Martin were each 2-for-3 with a double, with Zega driving in two and Martin scoring twice and driving one in.

Austin Markmann was 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored and Jeremy Joyce doubled, drove in two and scored a run.

Zega allowed one earned run on three hits and no walks while striking out four to earn the win.

Freehold Twp. 5, Brick Memorial 4

Brian Oliver tripled to lead off the 10th inning and scored on John Carroll's go-ahead RBI single that gave the Patriots a win over the Mustangs.

Mike Pirrotta pitched 5 2/3 innings and also had an RBI double at the plate. Pirrotta allowed three runs - two earned - on four hits while striking out five. Bryan Reed allowed one unearned run on one hit with four strikeouts in four relief innings to earn his first varsity win.

Ryan Ford went 1-for-4 with two RBI and Nick Coluccio was 1-for-3 with an RBI for Freehold Township.

Matt Cuppari hit a solo homer and scored two runs for Brick Memorial, while Brian Markoski went 2-for-4 with a run scored in the loss.

Senior Joey Rose blasted two of Toms River North's four home runs to up his season total to five and lead the Mariners to a win over Golden Eagles. Saturday marked Rose's second two-homer game in the last five days. He hit a pair of home runs in a 23-6 win over Lacey on Tuesday.

Mike Nyisztor and Dave Cordoma also hit home runs for Toms River North. Anthony Deceglie earned his first win of the season on the mound.
