Marlboro 12, Middletown North 4

The Mustangs beat the Lions to snap a four-game skid and qualify for the Shore Conference Tournament.

 

Class A Central

Rumson-Fair Haven 2, Raritan 1

Morgan Maguire struck out 12 and allowed one unearned run on five hits to help lead the Bulldogs to a win over the Rockets, cliching a share of the public division championship with both Manasquan and Monmouth.

Shane McCabe and Mike Frissori were each 2-for-3 with a double and a run scored, while Maguire helped his cause by going 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Tom Pulcine finished 2-for-3 for Raritan.

Monmouth 8, Manasquan 7 (9 Innings)

Jimmy Green dropped down a suicide squeeze to plate pinch runner P.J. Mallaci with the winning run in the bottom of the ninth inning and the Falcons beat the Warriors to clinch a share of the Class A Central public championship along with Manasquan and Rumson-Fair Haven.

Josh Jackson hit a game-tying solo home run in the bottom of the eighth after Manasquan had taken a 7-6 lead in the top of the inning on an RBI single by Matt Paturzo. Monmouth scored five runs in the bottom of the fifth to erase a 6-1 lead, highlighted by a two-run double by Christian Hoplock.

Joe Malfara worked 3 1/3 innings of relief to earn his first varsity win. Malfara allowed a run on two hits and struck out five.

Tanner Cowley went 3-for-5 with a double and two RBI while Max Hawkins was 1-for-2 with four walks, two RBI and three runs scored.Tyler Bradley also added a two-run single that put Manasquan ahead 6-1 in the fourth.

St. John Vianney 5, Shore 0

Dan Schirmacher threw a three-hit shutout and the Lancers beat the Blue Devils to win the outright Class A Central championship for the second straight season. Schirmacher walked three and struck out six.

Nick DeLuise and Zach Richards each hit a two-run double in St. John Vianney's five-run first inning.

Devin McLaughlin went 2-for-3 with a double for Shore.

 

Class B North

Matawan 11, Long Branch 8

Winning pitcher Nick Smith helped his cause with three hits, including two doubles, and two RBI and Huskies outlasted the Green Wave. Adam Elliot also went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Nick Villanueva finished 2-for-4 with an RBI.

Nick Conklin went 3-for-4 with two doubles, two runs scored and two RBI for Long Branch.

Ocean 10, Red Bank 0 (5 Innings)

Blake Demeter struck out eight in a five-inning one-hitter as the Spartans blanked the Bucs. Anthony Bartolomei collected three hits and scored two runs, while Brian Kochenash picked up two hits and drove in two in the win.

Kenny Pickett also had two hits and Brian Olesen knocked in a pair of runs for Ocean.

Wall 16, Neptune 0 (5 Innings)

Zach Wilson went 4-for-4 with a home run, double, three runs scored and two RBI and the Crimson Knights scored 12 runs in the bottom of the fourth to put away the Scarlet Fliers.

Dan Wondrack also hit his sixth home run of the season and Brendan Barcas finished 2-for-3 with a triple and three RBI. Josh Leone was 2-for-4 with a double and three RBI, while Ryan Orender and Jake Malone each added a pair of hits and runs scored.

Mike Nocci allowed two hits and struck out five over five scoreless innings to earn the win.

Colts Neck 2, Red Bank Catholic 1 (8 Innings)

Sam DeVitis knocked in Tim Cavrak with a walk-off single in the bottom of the eighth inning to make a winner out of Chris Murphy for the sixth time this season as the Cougars beat the Caseys to cap ann unbeaten season in Class B North.

Murphy went the distance for Colts Neck, allowing one run on six hits and two walks while striking out 10 over his eight innings.

DeVitis drove in both Colts Neck runs and finished 2-for-4. Cavrak was 2-for-4 with a run scored and Tyler Kay also went 2-for-3 with a run scored o DeVitis' fourth-inning RBI single. Jordan Gonzalez also went 3-for-4 in the win.

Red Bank Catholic tied the game in the top of the seventh on a two-out, two-strike, RBI single through the middle by sophomore Aaron Ahn to score Tom Merlo from second. Evan Madigan was 2-for-4 and Anthony DeRosa finished 2-for-3 for RBC.

 

Non-Division

Holmdel 13, Keansburg 6

D.J. Goins went 2-for-4 with two of Holmdel's seven doubles and also had three RBI and two runs scored as the Hornets upended the Titans. Will Van Name and Mike Ammirati both went 2-for-3 with a double, two runs scored and a RBI for Holmdel, while Tyler Fischer was 3-for-4 with two RBI in the win.

Ian Terry and Tyrell Wilson each went 2-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBI.

Freehold Twp. 8, Lacey 0

Sophomore Mike Pirrotta pitched a two-hit shutout and Joe Silvestrone broke a single-season school record by hitting his ninth home run of the season as the Patriots beat the Lions to qualify for the Shore Conference Tournament.

Silvestrone finished 2-for-4 and nine home runs topped the previous record of eight, set in 1999 by Val Majewski, who starred at Rutgers and later reached the Major Leagues with the Baltimore Orioles.

Toms River East 3, Jackson Liberty 2

Tyler Idzinski hit a game-tying two-run triple and scored the winning run on a Chad Leonard squeeze bunt to ignite a three-run bottom-of-the-seventh that helped the Raiders rally for a win over the Lions.

Nick D'Arcy started the inning with a single and Cole Hardy worked a walk before scoring on Idzinski's triple. Kevin Brown earned the win in relief to improve to 5-1 on the season.

 

Non-Conference

Academy Charter 15, Henry Hudson 5

Jackson Memorial 15, Bayonne 0

Brandon Jannofsky and Matt Crispe both homered and Dylan Kanner pitched a five-inning one-hitter to help lead the Jaguars to a rout of the Bees. Kanner took a no-hitter into the fifth inning and was one out away from the five-inning no-hitter before surrendering a two-out single that broke up the bid.

Florence 13, Keyport 3 (6 Innings)
