The fifth full week of Shore Conference lacrosse is in the books. It's tournament time around New Jersey and that means the Shore Conference Tournament. The 18-team field to determine the Shore's best got underway late last week and continues this week with the championship game scheduled for Monday, May 16. We also had division titles clinched, personal milestones reached, and some action-packed games that came down to the wire.

The state tournament is also on the horizon with the cutoff coming this Saturday, May 14. The top 16 teams in each section as ranked by the LaxNumbers formula qualify for the NJSIAA playoffs.

Week 5 Rewind

Shore Conference Tournament Seeds

The Shore Conference Tournament was seeded last Wednesday with defending champion Rumson-Fair Haven earning the No. 1 seed. Can anyone take down the Bulldogs or will it be title No. 8 for the Shore Conference juggernaut?

Holmdel was our Jersey Mike's Team of the Week

The Hornets finally earned their signature win of the season to earn Team of the Week honors (and some subs, of course).

The latest SSN Boys Lacrosse Top 10

The bottom half of the rankings continued to be volatile with another change among spots six through 10.

Barnegat's Robert Sawicki voted as Player of the Week

The junior middie was the top vote-getter in the Week 4 poll.

Red Bank wins an OT classic over Holmdel in SCT opener

Despite some rain and a bitterly cold spring day, this game was tremendous. Red Bank built a solid lead, Holmdel rallied late to tie and force overtime, and Red Bank won it in the final seconds after some great saves at the other end.

CBA clinches Class A North division title

Another year, another division title for the Colts. CBA started the season as a very young and inexperienced team but has grown into a formidable squad that is battle-tested. The Colts earned the No. 4 seed for the Shore Conference Tournament.

Southern's Class A South dominance continues; a milestone for Ryan Sininsky

Make it nine straight for Southern, which rolled to the Class A South division title and extended its divisional winning streak to a whopping 63 games. That's nine straight years without a division loss. Senior attackman Ryan Sininskyk scored his 100th career goal in the win over Toms River North.

Southern's Joey DeYoung reaches 100 career points

The Hofstra recruit had a big game to help the Rams beat Jackson Memorial in the SCT.

Shore Regional holds on for a win over Red Bank Catholic

RBC nearly came away with a big top-10 upset but the Blue Devils ultimately held on for a 12-10 victory. If you wanted to see the rematch, well, you're in luck. Shore received the No. 6 seed for the Shore Conference Tournament and RBC is the 11th-seed. They'll square off Monday night in West Long Branch with a trip to the quarterfinals on the line.

St. Rose's Colin Westhoven reaches 100 career points

St. Rose senior midfielder Colin Westhoven reached the 100 career point milestone with three goals and two assists in a win over Point Boro. He has 30 goals and 16 assists this season plus 88 ground balls and a 59% winning percentage at the face-off X. He has 72 career goals and 33 assists for 105 points along with 200 career ground balls heading into Monday's SCT round of 16 game vs. Manasquan.

Walker Hunter becomes Shore's all-time saves leader

Shore Regional junior Walker Hunter is widely considered to be one of the very best goalies in the entire conference and on Monday, May 2 he made 12 saves in a win over Jackson Memorial to move to the top of the Blue Devils' all-time list.

Long Branch picks up its first win of the season

The Green Wave put one in the win column with a 9-3 victory over Newark Eastside. Senior attackman Jacob Juliano led the way offensively.

The Week Ahead: Week 6

It's all about the Shore Conference Tournament this week. All four division titles have been wrapped up with CBA winning Class A North, Southern claiming Class A South, Rumson-Fair Haven rolling in Class B North, and Manasquan securing Class B South. We are in catch-up mode with the tournament, however, since the preliminary round game between Brick Memorial and Barnegat originally scheduled for last Friday was moved to Monday. The winner of that gave was supposed to face Rumson on Saturday, but that obviously didn't happen.

The SCT was originally supposed to play the quarterfinal games this Tuesday, have the two semifinal games on Thursday at Long Branch, and then have the championship game on Monday, May 16, at Monmouth University. Now, the quarterfinals will be played on Thursday and the semifinals will be played on Saturday at the sites of the higher seed. The final remains on Monday at Monmouth.

The state tournament cutoff is also on Saturday, May 14. Looking ahead to a potential game between Wall and Manasquan in the SCT semifinals, that game could also have an impact on state tournament seeding as both are aligned in South Group 2 along with Rumson.
