Matawan Senior linebacker/tight end Aliem Shaw became the second Huskie in the last 2 weeks to be offered by Sacred Heart University, along with Shawn Ramcheran.

Shaw has been a consistent force on the Matawan defense for the last 3 years, and has consistently been one of the top linebackers in the state. As a sophomore, he was an All State and All Shore selection after leading the state with 17 sacks. Shaw’s tenacious play has caught the eye of coaches everywhere, and Sacred Heart became the first school to offer him two weeks ago. Shaw was once again a key part of Matawan’s defense in last years State Championship run, as he totaled 122 tackles and 7 sacks, garnering All Shore honors.
This season, Shaw has once again been a dominant force on defense, as he is always the main objective of opposing offenses trying to figure out ways to contain him. In 9 games this season, he has made 81 tackles and once again has been a dominant pass rusher, accounting for 6 sacks, while leading one of the most overpowering defenses in the shore, along with Shawn Ramcheran. This season, Shaw has been an integral part of Matawan’s offense as well, adding yet another target for fellow Division 1 prospect LC Pearson. As a tight end, he has totaled 111 receiving yards and 1 touchdown. That one touchdown came against Manasquan, where he got into the open field and showed off his blazing speed.
Aliem Shaw has been offered by Sacred Heart as a linebacker and his ferocious style of play has started to attract colleges everywhere. Shaw has also been on the radar of schools such as Syracuse, Rutgers, Penn State, and Boston College.
“Receiving this offer is a dream come true to be honest,” said Shaw,” like I’m one more step towards getting something I’ve worked my whole life for, so I can give back to everyone who has helped.”
