Air Force Head Coach Joe Scott Talks About His Basketball Journey
Joe Scott is one of the top student-athletes to ever come out of the Jersey Shore. During his days at Toms River East, he was first-team All-Shore in football and basketball and an All-County baseball player while also performing in the classroom. The now 54-year old went on to have an outstanding career as a point guard at Princeton University and after a brief stint as a lawyer starting his coaching career as an assistant at Monmouth University in 1991.
Scott’s first head coaching stop was at the Air Force Academy where he spent four seasons before leaving in 2004 for his alma mater Princeton. He’s also been a head coach at the University of Denver and spent the last four seasons as an assistant, the last two at the University of Georgia.
Now 16 years after leaving Colorado Springs he is returning to where he had his greatest success after being named head coach at Air Force again on March 31. Surrounded by boxes in the Georgia home he will be leaving soon Scott and I talked about the journey which has him back at AFA.
