Class A North

No. 6 CBA 15, Freehold Twp. 3

Senior Gavin Kus went 4-for-5 with a three-run home run, double, three runs and five RBI to pace the Colts (5-2, 2-1) to a win over the Patriots (6-2, 3-2), snapping Freehold Township's six-game winning streak.

Junior Hunter Del Guercio also blasted a three-run home run, while junior Zaine Toneske was 3-for-5 with three RBI and junior Harrison Campi went 3-fo-4 with three runs scored and an RBI for CBA.

Senior right-hander Colin Reilly allowed three unearned runs over sive innings with six hits, two walks and seven strikeouts on 82 pitches.

Mike Avino went 1-for-3 with two runs scored and senior Sean Keegan was 2-for-4 with an RBI for Freehold Township.

St. Rose 3, No. 10 Manasquan 2 (8 Innings)

Senior Ryan Rogers roped a game-winning, RBI double with two out in the bottom of the eighth inning and the Purple Roses (1-7) walked off with their first win of the season by upending the Warriors (4-4).

Rogers also hit a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the first inning, which was the second of back-to-back sacrifice flies to open up a 2-0 lead for St. Rose. Junior Jack Lomerson's sacrifice fly made it 1-0 after the game started with a leadoff singe by sophomore Jack Tienrnan and a double by junior Dave Bookbinder.

Junior Brett Patten went 1-for-2 and scored both Manasquan runs, while senior Ryan Deegan tripled home a run in the third to get the Warriors on the board. Deegan finished 1-for-2 and sophomore Cullen Condon went 2-for-4 in the loss.

Junior left-hander Jack Donohue pitched two scoreless innings of relief with three strikeouts to earn the win after backing up Tiernan, who allowed one earned run on four hits and three walks over six innings while striking out eight.

Jack Dawson surrendered two runs on four hits and a walk while striking out eight over seven innings for Manasquan, with junior Jack O'Shea taking the loss in relief.

 

No. 1 Rumson-Fair Haven 3, No. 3 Ranney 2

Sophomore Aaron Del Tin tied the game with a sacrifice fly and senior Brian Doherty scored the winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the sixth to make a winner of the Bulldogs and senior ace Charlie Jones against the previously unbeaten Panthers.

Jones walked in the go-ahead run with two out in the top of the fourth and proceeded to retire the final 10 batters he faced, which included four of his six strikeouts in the game.

Senior Hunter Roselli opened the scoring with a two-run triple in the top of the second and the Garnet Gulls (7-2) held on in a tight game vs. the Pirates (1-2-1).

Senior Braden Ryan added an RBI single in the second, senior Connor DeLorenzo made it 4-2 in the fourth with an RBI single and senior Colin Matuschat tacked on what turned to be the winning run in the top of the seventh with an RBI single to make it 5-3.

Senior left-hander Owen West worked five innings to pick up the win and seniors Andrew Banick and Phil Trebour combined on the final two to finish off the victory.

Malvern Prep (Pa.) 10, No. 8 Jackson Memorial 1

Delbarton 4, No. 5 Middletown South 3

Senior Evan Wood went 3-for-4 with a solo home run and a game-tying RBI double in the top of the seventh, but the Green Wave (5-2) walked off with a win over the Eagles (5-3) on a sacrifice fly by Kevin Hager.

Five Point Beach pitchers combined on a no-hitter in game one of the double-header and junior Jackson Killian made it back-to-back no-hitters with a five-inning no-no as the Garnet Gulls (6-2, 5-1) swept the Red Raiders (2-4, 2-4) in memorable fashion.

Andrew Banick retired the first eight Keyport batters of the day, striking out five of them. Nate Van Norman then spun two innings, Jonathan Nasce recorded the last out of the fifth, and Liam Dolan and Phil Trebour each pitched a scoreless inning with two strikeouts to finish off the combined no-hitter.

Brothers Colin and Bryan Matuschat each went 2-for-4 with a run scored to lead the offense, with freshman Bryan driving in three runs and senior Colin knocking in one.

In game two, Killian struck out four and walked one in his five innings of no-hit ball, finishing the feat on just 56 pitches.

Kyle Kolans (four runs, two RBI), Phil Trebour (three RBI), Andrew Banick (two runs, two RBI), Colin Matuschat (triple, two runs, three RBI), Bryan Matuschat (one run, two RBI), Hunter Roselli (two runs, one RBI) each went 2-for-3 at the plate and James Larsen was 1-for-1 with a triple and two RBI for Point Beach.
