Shore Conference Tournament

Quarterfinals

(4) Red Bank Catholic 7, (5) Wall 1

Junior Frank Scrivanic and senior Jack Meyers came through with two-out, two-run hits in a six-run fifth inning for Red Bank Catholic and junior Alex Stanyek shut down the Wall lineup in a Caseys win over the Crimson Knights.

Scrivanic tied the game with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 4th and RBC took the lead in the fifth on a bases-loaded walk by sophomore Sean Griggs. After an error scored the third Caseys run, Scrivanic smoked single through the middle with the bases loaded to score two runs and stretch the RBC lead to 5-1.

Meyers then stepped in a hammered a double to the left-centerfield gap to chase home two more and cap the scoring.

Wall jumped on top in the top of the second inning on a solo home run to left by senior Jerry Winchester. The Crimson Knights threatened again in the third when senior Nick Colbert walked and moved to second on a sacrifice, followed by a hard groundball by senior Nick Lovarco that was misplayed at third base and scooted into the outfield.

Colbert attempted to score, but Red Bank Catholic executed a successful relay from Meyers in left, Griggs at third and junior Shane Andrus at the plate to cut down Colbert for the second out.

Following in the play at the plate, Stanyek retired 13 of the next 15 batters that he faced, with the two exceptions coming on a pair of walks.
