We have the best fans in all of college basketball. Our students come to every home game with an energy that can be felt right when you step into the gym. It’s going to be needed again on Friday when the Stags of Fairfield come to West Long Branch to take us on for the second time this season. Fairfield is a tough team that can shoot better than most MAAC teams and can be very hard to beat if they start to knock down shots. The senior, Marcus Gilbert, getting 18.6 PPG, is determined to make this season a winning one. Slowing him down won’t be an easy task but with the defense that we have, we are confident. We’re going to need our students to come with that same energy to make the MAC a hostile environment for the Stags.

Our next three games, Fairfield, at Marist, and at Rider, will be great matchups for us if we come in with the same defensive intensity that we had for the Siena and Iona games. Marist is lead by Khalid Hart who’s getting 22.2 PPG and can be a deadly scorer if we let him get going. Even though they are last in the league (1-10 in the MAAC) they’re still a good team that can surprise you if you’re not ready. Thankfully, in my opinion, we have the best point guard in the country in Justin Robinson (20.8 PPG) who just dropped an astonishing 36 points against the number 2 team in the MAAC, Siena. Not only do we have America’s favorite player, but we also have a special young freshman Micah Seaborn, and notorious husky bull Austin Tilghman.

This year we have one of the most special groups that the Monmouth campus has ever seen. And you all already know that we are nowhere near being done any time soon. We’re motivated, determined, and oh so hungry to continue this amazing season as March approaches. So pack the MAC this Friday (2/5) to watch your Monmouth Hawks take on Fairfield in another matchup in MAAC basketball. Cheer on your Hawks as we continue to grind into the postseason. You’re not going to want to miss what we have in store next!
