Monmouth University recently announced the hiring of Ginny Boggess as the 9th head women's basketball coach in program history.  Boggess comes to West Long Branch following two seasons as the top assistant coach and head recruiting coordinator at Penn State and before that spent five seasons at Marquette where she helped the Golden Eagles reach the NCAA Tournament in each of her last three seasons.

A native of West Virginia Boggess was a four-year starter at Wingate University in North Carolina (Class of 2003) and has also had coaching stops at Columbia University, Jacksonville University, Hofstra and Kennesaw State.

She takes over a program that was 2-16 last season and has not posted a winning record in more than a decade.  Despite that she has hit the ground running and is confident that Monmouth is a "sleeping giant" who will make headlines at the Jersey Shore in the very near future.

I caught up with her this week and talked about her first head coaching job and hopes for the Hawks program.
