Class A North

Middletown North 63, Howell 56

Freshman Rob Higgins scored 19 points and handed out eight assists to lead the Lions to a win over the Rebels. Juniors John Tomassetti and Matt Pinckney added 11 points each for Middletown North, while senior teammate Colin Frawley chipped in eight points and 10 rebounds in the win.

 

Class A South

Jackson Memorial at Brick Memorial - PPD, Feb. 6, 1 p.m.

Toms River South 54, Lacey 21

R.J. Laing scored 11 points to go with seven rebounds and the Indians dominated the Lions for the second time this season. In the two meetings this season, Toms River South held Lacey to a total of 37 points.

No. 5 Toms River North 89, Toms River East 79

Junior Jaden Rhoden scored a game-high 25 points and junior Darrion Carrington added 16 points, five rebounds and 11 assists to lead the Mariners to a win over the Raiders and give Toms River North a two-game lead in the loss column over both Toms River East and Southern in the A South race.

Junior Mike Nyisztor also scored 21 points for Toms River North. Senior Ryan West led Toms River East with a game-high 30 points while junior Phil Lingat poured in 19 in the loss.

Southern 85, Brick 68

Senior Peyton Wejnert scored 32 points to go with 14 rebounds, four assists, five blocks and three steals as the Rams beat the Green Dragons, exacting revenge for a buzzer-beater loss to Brick earlier in the season.

Senior Ethan Dubois added 24 points, four rebounds and nine assists and sophomore Jake Dubois chipped in 19 points and seven assists.

Senior Kenny Buell led Brick with 21 points. Junior Brandon Williams added 12 points and freshman Shane Williams pitched in 10 in the loss.

 

Class B Central

Point Beach 61, St. Rose 45

The Garnet Gulls outscored the Purple Roses 26-2 in the fourth quarter to close out a Class B Central road win.

 

Class B South

No. 9 Lakewood 73, Barnegat 48

Junior Adiam Palmer scored a career-high 32 points and the Piners rolled to a win over the Bengals. Palmer also had five rebounds and three steals in the win.

Senior Amir Tyler added 11 points, five rebounds and nine assists while senior Sean Barksdale chipped in 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists for Lakewood.

Donovan Catholic 70, Point Boro 49

Senior Riley Collins scored 15 points, including the 1,000th of his high school career, and the Griffins topped the Panthers on the road. Collins split his career between Central Regional and Donovan Catholic, spending his final two seasons with the Griffins.

Collins - who entered the game 14 points shy of 1,000 - scored seven points in the third quarter, including a free throw to reach the milestone number. Senior Tyler McShea led Donovan Catholic with a game-high 19 points.

Matt VanNostrand led Point Boro with 11 points and Chris Costigan added 10 in the loss.

Pinelands 46, Jackson Liberty 34

Senior Dave Lunn scored a game-high 25 points and Will Jenkins grabbed 10 rebounds in his first action of the season as the Wildcats beat the Bengals. Jenkins sat out the first five weeks of the season with a broken leg.

Freshman Dan Sofield led Jackson Liberty with 13 points.

 

Non-Division

Monmouth 57, Freehold Boro 51

Junior Nick Cirlincione scored 18 points and junior Tyler Hawkins added 17 as the Falcons topped the Colonials for their first win of the season. Senior Matt Mooney added 13 points for Monmouth.

Junior Markee Gill led Freehold with 18 points.

 

Non-Conference

Henry Hudson 65, Academy for Urban Leadership 50

Tom DeFillippo scored 12 of his game-high 25 points in the second quarter and the Admirals picked up a non-conference win. Chris Coberg added 11 points for Henry Hudson.
