Shore Sports Network is proud to unveil its 2014 All-Shore teams and season-ending award winners featuring the top performers from the 2014 Shore Conference lacrosse season.
The All-Shore teams, along with the player and coach of the year, were selected by staff writer Bob Badders.

2014 Shore Sports Network All-Conference Lacrosse Teams
First Team
Dylan Jinks, Jr., Attack, Southern
The Shore Sports Network Player of the Year, Jinks set a Shore Conference record with a state-best 93 goal while adding a team-high 43 assists for 136 points. He was fourth in New Jersey in scoring. He scored five goals or more in seven games and scored at least four goals in 16 of Southern’s 23 games. He scored the game-winning goal in overtime when Southern defeated Lenape, 11-10, to win the South Jersey Group IV title for the second season in a row. Selected as the Class A South Player of the Year by the coaches. A University of Hartford commit, Jinks will begin his senior season with 198 goals and 304 points.
Colin Shea, Sr., Attack, Rumson-Fair Haven
Scored 35 goals and added a team-high 32 assists for a team-leading 67 points. Also fielded 24 ground balls. Scored a season-high four goals and had three assists in wins over Caldwell and St. Rose. Had two goals and two assists when Rumson defeated Southern to win a record fourth straight Shore Conference Tournament title. An all-division pick by the coaches in Class A Central and a first team All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Will continue his career at Division II Chestnut Hill.
Kyle McDonough, Sr., Attack, Wall
Registered team highs in all offensive scoring categories with 52 goals and 31 assists for 83 points. Also fielded 35 ground balls. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A North and a first team All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Committed to Division II Mercy College.
Chris Hubler, Sr., Midfield, Rumson-Fair Haven
The 2014 Class A Central Player of the Year, Hubler scored 25 goals and added 16 assists for 41 points to help the Bulldogs win the Shore Conference Tournament for a record fourth straight year. He was second on the team with 74 ground balls. Had a season-high four goals and five points in the SCT final victory over Southern. Had a season-best eight ground balls in a win over New Providence in the NJSIAA South Jersey Group I semifinals. Selected as an All-Shore first-team midfielder by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Will continue his career at Division I Johns Hopkins University.
Jake Smolokoff, Sr., Midfield, Red Bank
Scored 57 goals and notched 36 assists for 93 points. Fielded 64 ground balls. Scored a season-high nine points in a win over Middletown South and had a season-high six goals in a victory over Ranney. Picked up a season-high nine ground balls in a victory over Marlboro. A first team all-division pick by the coaches in Class A North and a first team All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Signed to play at Division I New Jersey Institute of Technology for the program’s inaugural season.
Shawn McManus, Jr., Midfield, Southern
Southern’s pace-setter on offense, McManus scored 51 goals and added 40 assists for 91 points. He had eight games scoring at least three goals and six games dishing out three or more assists. Registered a season-high five goals in back-to-back wins over Jackson Liberty and Toms River South, and had seven-point games against Toms River South and Eastern, the latter coming in the state playoffs.
J.T. Jennings, Sr., Defense, Rumson-Fair Haven
Fielded 22 ground balls and had 17 takeaways for the top-ranked Bulldogs. Picked up his only point of the season with an assist versus New Providence in the state tournament. Had a season-high five ground balls in a win over Colts Neck in the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals. Rumson went on to win its record fourth straight SCT title. A first-team all-division selection in Class A Central by the coaches and an All-Shore first team selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Committed to Division I Siena College.
Tim Davis, Sr., Defense, Holmdel
Fielded 128 ground balls with a 7.5 per game average, and chipped in offensively with two assists. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A Central and a first team All-Shore defenseman as selected by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches association.
Matt Pieringer, Jr., Defense, Red Bank Catholic
The Caseys’ top defender fielded 40 ground balls this season, including a season-high six in an 8-6 victory over Freehold Township, for a defense that yielded 6.5 goals per game. A first-team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A Central. Has received interest from Division I programs.
Justin Ruiz, Jr., Goalie, Holmdel
In his first season as the Hornets’ starting goalie, Ruiz was spectacular in stopping 257 of 357 shots for a save percentage of 71.9. He also had four games in which he made 20 or more saves, including a ridiculous 25-save performance in a 5-4 overtime victory over St. John Vianney. He also had 20 saves versus Roxbury, and 21 against both South Jersey Group I finalists, Rumson-Fair Haven and A.L. Johnson.
Billy Dowd, Sr., Face-off Specialist, Southern
Southern’s ace FOGO won 299 of 398 face-offs this season for a .751 winning percentage. He had four games where he went unbeaten on draws, and had eight games where he won 15 or more face-offs. His season-high came against Toms River North on April 2 when he won 22 of 24 draws. He also went 20-for-25 in a win over Brick on April 19. In the Shore Conference Tournament final, Dowd won 16 of 28 draws against Rumson-Fair Haven’s Ryan Campbell. He also won 14 of 22 face-offs to help Southern defeat Lenape in the South Jersey Group IV final. Scored three goals and five assists. A first-team Class A South and second-team All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Second Team
Attack - Brendan Mullen, Sr., Southern
Mullen scored 62 goals and added 40 assists as one of just two Shore Conference players to eclipse 100 points during the season. He helped lead Southern to its second consecutive Shore Conference Class A South division title and back-to-back NJSIAA South Jersey Group IV titles. Had three games scoring five goals, including a season-high 10 points versus Brick on April 19. A second team Class A South all-division selection by the coaches.
Attack - Matt McGuiness, Sr., Christian Brothers Academy
Led the Colts in scoring with 40 goals and 41 assists for 81 points as CBA won its seventh straight Class A North division title and reached the semifinals of the Shore Conference Tournament. Concluded his career with 78 goals and 68 assists for 146 points. A first-team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A North and a second-team All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Attack - Thomas Deiner, Sr., Christian Brothers Academy
Scored 30 goals and added 33 assists to lead the Colts to their seventh straight Class A North division title and an appearance in the Shore Conference Tournament semifinals. Finished his career with 91 goals and 85 assists for 176 points. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A North and a second team All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Midfield - T.J. Coleman, Sr., St. John Vianney
Scored 30 goals and dished out 30 assists for 60 points. Second on the Lancers with 67 ground balls. Scored a season-high nine points and fielded eight ground balls in a win over Ranney, and scored a season-best four goals in a win over Ocean. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A Central and a second team All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Midfield - Ryan Coolahan, Sr., Red Bank Catholic
Led the Caseys in scoring with 40 goals and 18 assists for 58 points. Picked up 42 ground balls. Had a season-high four goals, six points and six ground balls in a win over Shore. A first team Class A Central pick by the coaches and a second team All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Midfield - Dan Cannon, Sr., Lacey
A Catholic University recruit, Cannon led the Lions with 65 points on 30 goals and 35 assists. Was third on the team with 69 ground balls and also won 56 percent of face-offs. Had three assists when Lacey upset Red Bank Catholic to win its first Shore Conference Tournament game in program history, and scored three goals and added two assist when the Lions picked up their first state tournament victory by defeating Mainland. A first team Class A South pick and second team All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Defense - Tim Foley, Sr., Wall
Fielded a team-leading 47 ground balls and also contributed one assist. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A North and a second team All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Defense - Mike Adragna, Jr., Southern
The Rams’ top defenseman fielded 78 ground balls and had 45 takeaways to help Southern win the Class A South division title and the South Jersey Group IV sectional title for the second consecutive season.
Defense - Casey Sullivan, Defense, Lacey
Sullivan fielded 73 ground balls, good for second best on the team and tops among Lacey defensemen. Also had two assists. Helped the Lions win their first Shore Conference and NJSIAA State Tournament games. A first-team all-Class A South and second team All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Recruited to play at Division-III Marywood University.
Goalie - Matt Grobelny, Sr., Barnegat
Grobelny was a key contributor during Barnegat’s breakout season, stopping 190 of 268 shots on goal for a .708 save percentage. Made at least 10 saves in 13 of 16 games, and made a season-high 25 saves in a 9-8 overtime loss to Southern in the A South title game. Had 13 saves when the Bengals defeated Wall in the Shore Conference Tournament, 16 saves in a win over Jackson Memorial and 15 saves in a 7-6 win over Lacey. A first team all-division pick by the coaches in Class A South and a second team All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
Specialist - Ryan Campbell, Sr., Face-offs, Rumson-Fair Haven
Won 183 of 302 face-offs for a .606 winning percentage, and also fielded a team-high 84 ground balls. Won a season-high 20 of 24 draws and picked up a season-best 12 ground balls in a win over Manasquan in the Shore Conference Tournament, which Rumson won for a record fourth straight year. Also had a goal and an assist. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A Central and a first team All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Recruited to play at Division III Dickinson College.
Third Team
Attack- Blaine Birch, Sr., Manasquan
Scored 56 goals and had 13 assists for 69 points. A first team all-division pick by the coaches in Class A Central and a second team All-Shore choice by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Will play football and lacrosse at Division II Assumption College.
Attack - Mark Scherzer, Sr., Holmdel
Scored 42 goals and added 10 assists for a team-high 52 points. Fielded 46 ground balls. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A Central and an honorable mention All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Will attend Richard Stockton College.
Attack - David Kearns, Sr. Brick
Tied the program record with 60 goals this season, and added 35 assists for 95 points. Also led the Dragons in ground balls with 62. Kearns is Brick’s all-time leading scorer with 166 goals and 177 assists for 283 points. He fielded 204 ground balls for his career. Was a first-team Class A South selection by the coaches.
Midfield - Joe Murphy, Sr.,Manasquan
Scored 10 goals and three assists, and fielded 32 ground balls. A second team all-division choice by the coaches in Class A Central and an honorable mention All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Committed to play at Division I Quinnipiac University.
Midfield - Billy Sasso, Jr., Freehold Township
Scored 21 goals and added 27 assists for 48 points. Also a standout face-off man winning over 60 percent of draws.
Midfield - Chris Sutphen, Sr., Rumson-Fair Haven
Scored 24 goals and added seven assists for 31 points. Fielded 27 ground balls. Scored 10 of his 24 goals in four playoff games spanning the Shore Conference and NJSIAA Tournaments. Helped Rumson win the SCT for a record fourth consecutive year. A second team all-division pick by the coaches in Class A Central and an honorable mention All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Committed to play at Division I Manhattan College.
Defense - Conner Phillips, Sr., Rumson-Fair Haven
Fielded 24 ground balls and had 14 takeaways as part of the Shore Conference’s best defensive unit. Had a season-high 4 ground balls against Colts Neck in the Shore Conference Tournament and a season-high three takeaways against St. Rose. Helped the Bulldogs win the SCT title for a record fourth straight season. A second team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A Central and an honorable mention All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Committed to play at Division I Syracuse University.
Defense - Zach Bradley, Sr., Red Bank
Fielded 67 ground balls to go along with one goal and three assists. Had a season-high 10 ground balls in a win over Manasquan and had two assists in a win over Brick. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A Central and an honorable mention All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Committed to play at Division II Pace University.
Defense - Greg Moran, Sr., Barnegat
The Bengals’ defensive leader, Moran fielded 40 ground balls, including a season-high six in a win over Toms River North. Helped the Bengals upset Wall to reach the Shore Conference Tournament quarterfinals, and also finish second in Class A South. A first team all-division selection by the coaches in Class A South.
Goalie - Bobby Graziano, Sr., Ocean
Made 223 saves on 336 shots for a .663 save percentage. Made a season-high 19 saves twice in games versus Christian Brothers Academy and Marlboro, and made 18 saves when the Spartans upset Red Bank in the first round of the NJSIAA South Jersey Group II playoffs. A first team Class A North selection by the coaches and an honorable mention All-Shore pick by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association. Committed to play at Division III Montclair State.
Specialist - Vinny Celidonio, Sr. LSM, Jackson Memorial
Celidonio scored 10 goals and added two assists as the Jaguars’ long stick midfielder. Had two goals each in victories over Toms River North, Toms River East and Brick. A second team all-division pick by the coaches in Class A South, and an honorable mention All-Shore selection by the Shore Conference Lacrosse Coaches Association.
