No. 9 Toms River South 24, No. 4 Southern 23 -*TRS had one team point deducted for unsportsmanlike conduct at 170 pounds*

Toms River South freshman Nick Gallichio defeated Southern freshman Matt Barnett 6-1 at 113 in the final bout of the match to give the No. 9 Indians a thrilling road victory over the fourth-ranked Rams.

Junior Owen McClave bumped up to 132 pounds and defeated James Knoeller, 6-3, in one of many key wins for the Indians. Senior Antrez Clagon defeated region champ Matt Wilhelm, 8-6 at 170 pounds, for a huge win that helped Toms River South pull the upset.

 

Class B North

Wall sophomore Nick Wagner defeated Ocean freshman Jake Benner, 7-5, at 126 pound, while Josh Glantzman (152), Shane Davis (195) and Matt McKenzie (220) registered pins and Denzel Tovar (120) and Jack Wishart (145) won by technical fall for the Crimson Knights.

Costa Poniros edged Joe Demuner 5-4 at 138 pounds, and Zach Hertling (182) and Brian Olsesen (Hwt) won by fall for the Spartans.

 

 

Class B Central

 

Class B South

The Lions won 10 of 14 bouts and used pins by Jared DiZenzo (Hwt), Nick Pellegrino (106), Mike Russo (132) and Matt Russo (152) to all but lock up the division title.

 

 

Nondivisional

Nick Pollara pinned Paul Capaldo in 4:49 of a 1-0 bout at 152 pounds and Ray Fattaruso beat Anthony Vetrano 8-2 at 220 pounds as the Dragons took 11 of 14 bouts from the Lions in a lopsided nondivisional victory.

 

Freshman Peter Wersinger outlasted Mike Gillen, 2-1 in tiebreaker at 195 pounds, to keep Long Branch alive and set up Joey Jasio for the match-winning pin in the final bout at 220 pounds as the Green Wave won a thriller over the host Rockets to remain unbeaten.
