The annual Battle of Point Pleasant wrestling match between Point Boro and Point Beach will take place on Friday night, and you can catch all the action LIVE on SSNTV.

The Shore Sports Network will be live-streaming the annual matchup between the Panthers and the Garnet Gulls beginning at 6:40 with the first bout scheduled for 7 p.m. The matchup provides one of the best atmospheres in all of Shore Conference athletics with both student sections packing the gym and cheering on their respective teams from the opening whistle to the final takedown. Tickets for the match sold out in just two days, so if you didn’t get your ticket yet you’re not out of luck. SSNTV has you covered.

Bob Badders and Russ Pascale will call the match, which can be viewed on your computer or tablet as well as through the Shore Sports Network mobile app. It will also be broadcast through the Shore Sports Network Facebook page.

Point Boro enters the match with a 7-3 record and is in line to capture the Class B South division title for the third straight season. The Panthers are coming off a 61-10 win over Lakewood where senior Billy Borowsky defeated Lakewood’s Dante Morris, 1-0 at 220 pounds, in a battle between returning state qualifiers. Borowsky is a team-best 19-0 at 220 pounds with titles at the Garden State Classic, Walter Woods Tournament and the Elizabeth Minutemen Tournament. Sophomore Nick Torre is 14-2 at 113 pounds, sophomore Jack Bailey is 13-4 at 138 pounds, junior Ty Bailey is 17-3 at 145 pounds and senior Spencer Robinson is 13-3 at 152 pounds.

Point Beach will bring a 15-2 record into Friday’s match. Since dropping a 40-27 match to Class B Central rival Shore, the Garnet Gulls have won 10 straight matches. On Tuesday, Beach defeated Central, 30-29, when junior Jason Sherlock won by fall in the final bout. Sherlock leads Beach with a 20-0 record at 170 pounds. Junior Liam Buday is 17-2 at 195 pounds, junior Jesse Bowers is 16-3 at 132 pounds, sophomore Riley Simon is 16-4 at 126 pounds and sophomore Kip Lovgren is 14-6 at 120 pounds.

Point Boro has won 15 straight matches in the series, including six in a row since the rivalry was renewed in 2013. The teams did not wrestle from 2007-2012. Point Beach’s last win over Point Boro came in 1998.
