Each week, Shore Sports Network selects the top players in each Shore Conference boys soccer division and gives the Shore Conference fans a chance to vote for their pick as the overall Thrive Player of the Week.

Below are the Players of the Week from each of the six Shore Conference divisions, as well as two wild cards to push the list of nominees to eight players. Vote for the top performer in the poll at the bottom of the post and come back every hour to vote again. The poll closes Thursday at 10 p.m. and the winner will receive a shirt and a free training session, courtesy of Thrive.

Class A North Player of the Week

Shawn McCann, Middletown South

After assisting two of the three Middletown South goals in a crucial 3-2 win over Marlboro, McCann delivered what proved to be the deciding goal in the Eagles’ 2-1 win over CBA on Thursday. That result ended CBA’s 27-game winning streak vs. in-state opponents and catapulted Middletown South up the Shore Sports Network rankings, as well as the Shore Conference Tournament seeding list.

Class A North Honorable Mention: Dimitry Corba, CBA; Victor Torres, Freehold Twp.; Trevor Barrett, Marlboro; Nick Turtorro, Howell; Matteo Niglio, Middletown South; Tye Maser, Howell; Mike Pepe, Manalapan; Brayden Perry, CBA

Class A Central Player of the Week

Owen Saad, Rumson-Fair Haven

Saad and senior teammate Padraig Flynn were the standout performers during a season-defining week for the Bulldogs and both deserve a mention as potential divisional players of the week. Saad gets the nod because the first of his two goals last week was the golden goal that beat Holmdel, 3-2, and gave Rumson a share of its third straight division title. Saad pitched in an assist in a 3-2 win at Wall on Saturday that clinched the division outright.

Class A Central Honorable Mention: Padraig Flynn, Rumson-Fair Haven; Santino Scarponi, Shore; Carlos Guerra, Red Bank; Bo Pepe, Wall; Eion Davis, Raritan; Stefan Cojocariu, Raritan; Kieran Hynes, Holmdel; Frankie Brusco, Holmdel

Class A South Player of the Week

Rowen Joice, Toms River East

Like Rumson, Toms River East had more than one standout last week, with Luke Bodziak recording a hat trick in a must-have game vs. Freehold Boro in the SCT. It is Joice, though, who gets the honor as the A South Player of the Week because he just keeps on scoring every game. The junior scored a goal in that 5-2 win over Freehold Boro, then scored the lone goal in a 1-0 win over Brick memorial, plus another goal in a 3-0 win over Jackson Liberty to cap the week.

Class A South Honorable Mention: Tyler Korinchak, Jackson Memorial; Luke Bodziak, Toms River East; Jose Mayorga, Jackson Liberty; Jack Marro, Toms River North; Anthony Ruggiero, Toms River North; Shaan Moon, Jackson Memorial

Class B North Player of the Week

Sebastian Canaverde, Neptune

It has been a forgettable season overall for Neptune, but the Scarlet Fliers got it all working for at least one game. Facing division foe Freehold Boro, Neptune turned in a shutout and got two goals from Canaverde – the most experienced, accomplished member of this year’s roster – to pick up its first win of the season in the form of a 2-0 victory over the Colonials.

Class B North Honorable Mention: Kyle Moore, Colts Neck; Johan Gomez, Long Branch; Cristian Gonzalez, Manasquan; Luke Beavis, Manasquan; Lucas Farkas, Manasquan; Chris Garcia-Lopez, Long Branch; Noor Eraky, Ocean

Class B Central Player of the Week

Dev Nayer, Ranney

After dropping several close decisions early in the season, Ranney has begun to creep closer to .500, starting with a pair of wins last week against Red Bank Catholic and Henry Hudson. Nayer was the scoring standout over those two games, notching a hat trick in the win over RBC and scoring another goal in a 4-3 win over Henry Hudson.

Class B Central Honorable Mention: Kyle DiMarco, St. John Vianney; Jack Kane, St. Rose; Matt Alexis, St. Rose; Carlos Ramos, St. Rose; Anthony Marano, St. John Vianney; Brody Powers, Point Beach; Dylan Ryan, Point Beach; Dylan Smith, St. John Vianney; Saeed Torres, Ranney

Class B South Player of the Week

Anthony Introna, Lacey

It was a big week for Introna, who scored two important goals for a Lacey team that was playing for a share of the division title. He helped the Lions claim that share by scoring in a 3-1 win over Donovan Catholic early in the week – the first of two wins that clinched the division co-championship. Introna then came up big on Friday when he scored the golden goal in a 2-1 win over Toms River South.

Class B South Honorable Mention: Jose Oliva, Lakewood; Joey Kurak, Manchester; Jared Drewes, Point Boro; Garrett Gurzo, Point Boro; Javaughn Johnson, Lakewood; Gabe Occhipinti, Manchester

Wild Cards

Jose Oliva, Lakewood

On pure volume, Oliva had the best goal-scoring week of any player in the Shore Conference, totaling seven goals in Lakewood’s final two games during the week. The Piners posted back-to-back 7-0 wins over Pinelands and Keyport, with Ortiz going for four goals in the first and a hat trick in the second.

Tyler Korinchak, Jackson Memorial

Jackson Memorial has caught fire at the right time of the season and like Rumson and Toms River East, there is more than one player on the list of potential nominees this week. Korinchak has been the team’s steadiest scorer throughout the season and remained so last week, when the senior scored the golden goal in a 1-0 win over Toms River South and notched a second-half equalizer in a 2-1, overtime loss to East Brunswick on Saturday.
