The first full week of the season had several noteworthy performances on both sides of the ball as teams looked to get off to a fast start.

Now it’s time to get your vote in for who had the top performance in the Shore this weekend to choose the Orthopaedic Institute of Central Jersey/Shore Sports Network Player of the Week. The winner will be announced on Wednesday right here on ShoreSportsNetwork.com. Player of the Week nominees for Week 1 (listed in alphabetical order)

Canyon Birch, Sr., RB/LB, Manasquan

Birch ran for 176 yards and four touchdowns, made two tackles for a loss and recovered a fumble in the Warriors' 42-28 win over Point Boro.

Jermaine Corbett, Jr., RB, Long Branch

Corbett ran for 220 yards and four touchdowns on 21 carries to lead the Green Wave to a 41-6 win over Toms River East.

Brian Ewan, Sr., FB/LB, Barnegat

Ewan made 13 tackles, including two hits for a loss and one sack, and also ran for a 35-yard touchdown in the Bengals' 20-6 win over Jackson Liberty.

Dean Gallo, Sr., RB, Holmdel

Gallo ran for 101 yards and two touchdowns on just four carries as the Hornets trounced Manchester, 43-6.

Gil Goldsmith, Sr., QB, Shore

Goldsmith threw two touchdown passes and ran for another in the Blue Devils' 31-0 win over Pinelands.

Matt Krauss, Sr., QB, Freehold

Krauss had a monster game with 305 yards rushing and two touchdowns on 35 carries and 169 yards passing and a touchdown as the Colonials topped Middletown North, 22-20.

Joe Maffei, Sr., LB, Jackson Memorial

The Jaguars shut out Southern, 14-0, and Maffei played a major role with 11 tackles (9 solo) and one tackle for loss.

Alex Maldjian, Sr., FB, Rumson-Fair Haven

Maldjian ran for 94 yards and a career-high four touchdowns and also caught a 33-yard touchdown pass as the Bulldogs crushed St. John Vianney, 43-6.

Teddy Sharkey, Jr., WR/DB, Wall

Sharkey ran for a touchdown and also had an interception return for a touchdown in Wall's 44-0 win over Lakewood.

Rich Tallmadge, Sr., LB, Brick

Tallmadge returned a fumble 37 yards for a touchdown and also had multiple tackles for a loss to help the Dragons defeat rival Brick Memorial, 30-7.

Matt Tardy, Sr., LB/TE, Middletown South

Tardy had seven tackles, three sacks, a safety and a pass breakup, plus a 14-yard touchdown reception, as the Eagles shut out Freehold Township, 37-0.

Brendan Wei, Sr., WR, Colts Neck

Wei caught a touchdown pass and the go-ahead 2-point conversion in the fourth quarter to lift the Cougars to an 8-7 win over Monmouth Regional. He also had eight tackles with one hit for a loss on defense.

Dashawn Wilder, Sr., WR, Toms River North

Wilder returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown and then caught the go-ahead 2-point conversion pass with 30 seconds left in regulation to give the Mariners a 15-14 win over Manalapan.
