TOMS RIVER -- Christian Brothers Academy junior Nick Schutzenhofer, the No. 1 seed at 106 pounds, is out of the NJSIAA Region 6 Tournament.

Schutzenhofer did not weight in or participate in the quarterfinal round of the tournament on Friday at Pine Belt Arena, and is now completely out of the tournament. CBA head coach Russ Witt said it was because of "internal school reasons" and declined further comment.

Schutzenhofer was 28-1 and considered the favorite to take home the region championship. A first-year starter, Schutzenhofer burst onto the scene to help CBA win its first ever Shore Conference Tournament title as well as a share of the Class A North division title. His only loss of the season had come to Howell freshman Darby Diedrich, 2-0 in sudden victory overtime. He settled his score in a big way during the SCT championship match when he beat Diedrich 2-1 in double overtime in the final bout to clinch the title for the Colts.

Because of Schutzenhofer's withdrawal, Brick sophomore Joe Ferigne, the No. 8 seed, received a forfeit to reach the semifinals.
