SOUTH JERSEY GROUP V

1-Toms River North 27, 8-Atlantic City 20

A 1-yard touchdown run by senior running Parker Day with 2:47 left in regulation snapped a 20-all tie and helped the Mariners (10-0) survive a scare from the Vikings (4-5).

Senior quarterback Mike Husni threw a 51-yard touchdown pass to senior wide out Darrion Carrington, ran for a two-point conversion and also had an interception late in the game that helped clinch the win. Day also had touchdown runs of 26 and four yards.

Atlantic City led 6-0 at halftime on a 78-yard fumble return for a touchdown by Islya Muhammad. Day’s 26-yar touchdown tied the game 6-6, but the Vikings went ahead on long touchdown pass to Nahsir Morgan. After Husni and Carrington hooked up for a score to give Toms River North its first lead of the game, Atlantic City again tied the game on a 25-yard touchdown pass from Nazim Derry to Michael Preston with 7:07 left in the game.

Toms River North will host fifth-seeded Howell in the semifinals next Friday. The Mariners defeated the Rebels 58-33 in the regular season.
