NONDIVISIONAL

Southern 16, Holmdel 3

Kyle Mulrane scored six times and Will Johnson added three goals and one assist as the Rams (1-1) bounced back from a loss on opening day by dominating the Hornets (0-1).

Anellio Russo had two goals and three assists, Nick Fontana scored twice with two assists  and Ryan Comfort added two goals and one assist. Cade Johnson also found the scoresheet with a goal and an assist. Tristian Farina stopped 18 shots.

Justin Arredondo, Billy DiMaio and Justin Cohen each scored for Holmdel and Thomas Anderson made 11 saves.

Southern held a 31-25 shots advantage and led 8-0 at halftime.

 

Freehold Township 17, Red Bank 1

Senior attackman Drew Dunn fired in six goals with one assist and senior midfielder Mike Ferdinandi scored twice and dished out four assists to power the Patriots (1-0) to a win over the Bucs (0-2) in their season-opener.

Junior attackman Chris Novella had two goals and three assists and senior attackman Josh Nastarowicz added two goals and one assist. Freshman Brenden Doel scored twice for his first varsity goals and sophomores Nick Elimanco and Matt Kondrup also scored their first varsity goals. Matt Graybush also scored and had an assist. Billy Patten and Aidan Purcell each made one save.

Tyler Wark scored the lone goal for Red Bank off an assist from Pat Karr while Matt Gibson made 16 saves.

Freehold Township led 14-0 at halftime and outshot Red Bank, 39-4.
