Every week this season, Shore Conference wrestling fans will have their chance to vote for the Shore Sports Network Wrestler of the Week on our website.

The winner of the reader's vote for the NJSIAA district tournaments is Red Bank Catholic junior Aidan Meyler-McAuliffe, who won the District 22 160-pound title to become the Caseys’ first district champion since 2014.

Meyler-McAuliffe was the No. 1 seed in the bracket and stormed to the title with a major decision, a seven-point decision and a fall in the championship bout. He won by 15-6 major decision over Colts Neck’s Liam Hughes in the quarterfinals before winning 9-2 over Bordentown/Florence’s Jayden Bryant in the semifinals. In the final, Meyler-McAuliffe pinned Allentown’s John Kuchar in 1:58 to secure the title.

Meyler-McAuliffe is the 30th district champion in RBC’s program history and the first since Shawn McCord won the District 22 220-pound title in 2014. McAuliffe is 25-9 on the season and the No. 7 seed in the Region 6 Tournament.  As a district champion, he has a bye into Friday’s quarterfinal round where he will face the winner of Thursday’s bout between Raritan’s Anthony Aquilano, the No. 2 seed, and Delran’s Jeron Hill Mends.

Meyler-McAuliffe was the runaway winner in the poll with a 44.03 percent of the votes.
