Meet the new boss; same as the old boss.

Dominic Bellomo was the first Shore Sports Network Boys Soccer Player of the Week of the 2017 season and, fittingly enough, he is the last SSN Player of the Week for the 2017 campaign.

CBA’s breakout star in the midfield capped his stellar season with three great performances to finish the year. Bellomo assisted both goals in a 2-0 win over St. Joseph Metuchen in the sectional semifinals, scored the first goal in a 2-0 win over Bishop Eustace in the sectional finals, and scored on a beautiful strike to give CBA a 1-0 lead on Delbarton before the Green Wave erupted for four second-half goals.

Bellomo finished the season with a team-high nine goals and five assists while playing on a balanced, defensive-minded team CBA squad that finished No. 2 in the final Shore Sports Network Top 10. He won the final Player of the Week with 47.6 percent of the more than 16,000 votes cast.

This was the first SSN fan vote that incorporated the top girls soccer performers from the NJSIAA Tournament and they got plenty of support from the readers. Shore's Julia Eichenbaum finished second to Bellomo in the voting with 36.8 percent of the vote thanks to her heart-stopping performance in the final 3:09 of the Group I final.

Freehold Township senior Jasmine Colbert came in third with 11.6 percent of the vote after leading the Patriots to a Group IV co-championship. Anthony Arena sparked Holmdel to a Group II title and finished a distant fourth in the voting with 1.2 percent of the vote.
