Red Bank Catholic senior offensive lineman Liam Smith was invited over the summer to participate in the 5th annual Semper Fidelis All-American Bowl and Wednesday was presented with his official game day jersey. Captain Joseph McGinnis of the United States Marine Corps made the presentation during a ceremony at the school which was attended by Smith’s family along with senior football players and cheerleaders from the school.

The game will be played on Sunday, January 3rd, 2016 at the StubHub Center in Carson, California which is just south of Los Angeles. The 6’5, 270 pound Smith is one of only three New Jersey players on the East Roster with Kevin Crosby of Bamberg-Ehrhardt High School (South Carolina) serving as head coach.

Smith, who is one of the state’s top offensive lineman, ended his recruitment early by committing to Duke University in the spring. He was also considering offers from Rutgers, Pitt, Miami, Virginia and Vanderbilt among others. He helped the Caseys win a state sectional championship last season and is a major reason why RBC under head coach Jim Portella is off to a 4-0 start.

The Shore Sports Network's Ed Sarluca talked to Liam immediately following the announcement:
