Josh Dixon, Sr., RB, Freehold

Dixon erupted for a career-high 282 yards and five touchdowns in a 33-16 victory over Wall that pushed the Colonials’ record to 6-0 for the first time since 2008. Dixon has rushed for 913 yards and 13 touchdowns this season while averaging 8.1 yards per carry. His production has helped the Colonials jump to No. 6 in the Shore Sports Network Top 10, and they are also currently third in power points in Central Jersey Group IV.

 

Defense

Zach Tetro, Sr., LB, Jackson Memorial

The Jaguars senior linebacker made 12 tackles, including two for a loss and a sack, and returned a fumble five yards for the winning touchdown midway through the fourth quarter in a 21-14 victory over Brick Memorial that keeps the Jaguars one game behind Brick in the A South race.

 

Special teams

(tie) Brandon Barnetti, Jr., K, Southern/Shawn Ramcheran, Jr., WR/KR, Matawan

Barnetti kicked a game-winning 27-yard field goal with 1.6 seconds left in regulation to lift the Rams to a surprising 16-13 victory over Toms River South that bolstered their playoff chances. Southern is currently eighth in power points in South Jersey Group V.

 

Ramcheran returned not one, but two kickoffs for touchdowns, including a 92-yard return, in Matawan’s 52-7 victory over Holmdel. Ramcheran also had four catches for 93 yards and a touchdown. He has three return touchdowns this season.

Divisional Players of the Week

Class A North

Offense

Chad Freshnock, Jr., RB, Middletown North

Freshnock ran for 195 yards and two touchdowns on 21 carries, and also caught a touchdown pass in a 36-7 victory over Howell. The junior standout has 888 yards and 12 touchdowns while averaging 8.4 yards per carry this season.

Also deserving mention: Imamu Mayfield, Sr., RB, Manalapan

Defense

Kyle Mullen, Sr., DL, Manalapan

In the Braves’ crucial 21-3 victory over Middletown South, Mullen made nine tackles, recorded three sacks and forced a fumble as Manalapan won its 30th straight game against Shore Conference competition. It was also the Braves’ fifth straight win over the Eagles and gave them the inside track for their fifth straight division title.

Also deserving mention: Troy Thompson, Sr., LB, Middletown North

 

Class A Central

Offense

Charlie Volker, Sr., RB, Rumson-Fair Haven

After missing two games with a high ankle sprain - both losses for Rumson - the reigning Shore Sports Network Offensive Player of the Year returned in a 28-21 victory over Manasquan to rush for 267 yards and three touchdowns on 30 carries as the Bulldogs snapped a two-game losing streak.

Also deserving mention: Anthony Brown, Jr., QB, St. John Vianney

Defense

Jeff Sheard, Jr., DB, St. John Vianney

In his second game for the Lancers, Sheard made a team-high 14 tackles and also returned an interception 15 yards for a touchdown in St. John Vianney’s 35-14 victory over Raritan.

 

Class A South

Offense

Mike Husni, So., QB, Toms River North

Husni ran for 262 yards and three touchdowns on 22 carries, and also threw for 101 yards and two touchdowns on 5-of-8 passing in the Mariners’ 47-22 victory over Toms River East. Husni is in the midst of a tremendous sophomore season and is closing in on 1,000 yards rushing and passing. He has 803 yards passing and nine touchdowns against just two interceptions on 68 percent passing. He has run for 783 yards and six touchdowns with an 8.1 yards-per-carry average.

Defense

Pat Walker, Jr., LB, Southern

In the Rams’ 16-13 victory over Toms River South, Walker made seven tackles, including five solo stops, and also blocked a field goal to key a huge win for Southern. Walker also ran for 131 yards and a touchdown on 23 carries.

 

Class B North

Offense

Dahmiere Willis, Sr., RB, Long Branch

The Dahmiere Willis Show continued in the Green Wave’s 33-28 victory over Ocean. In turning in his fifth straight game of over 200 yards rushing, Willis ran for 286 yards and two touchdowns on 36 carries to lead No. 4 Long Branch to its fifth consecutive win. Willis has 1,429 rushing yards and 15 touchdowns in six games.

Also deserving mention: Tyler Thompson, Jr., RB, Ocean.

Defense

(tie) Ryan Kroeger, Sr., DL, Red Bank Catholic/Nick Lagrippo, Sr., LB, Red Bank Catholic

The Caseys blanked Red Bank 53-0 for their third straight shutout and have allowed just 23 points all season. Kroeger made six tackles with one for a loss, recorded two sacks and recovered a fumble. Lagrippo made a team-high 15 tackles with one for a loss.

 

Class B Central

Offense

Doug Goldsmith, Jr., RB, Shore

In his season debut after being out with a knee injury, Goldsmith returned with 141 yards rushing and two touchdowns in a 14-8 victory over Mater Dei Prep. His nine-yard run on fourth-and-inches from Shore’s own 25-yard line late in the game sealed the victory for the Blue Devils.

Defense

James Bedell, Sr., LB, Shore

Bedell made 12 tackles with two coming at or behind the line of scrimmage to lead the way for the Blue Devils in a 14-8 victory over Mater Dei Prep. The Seraphs came in averaging 40 points per game.

 

Class B South

Offense

Chapelle Cook, Sr., QB, Lakewood

Cook ran for 215 yards and four touchdowns while also throwing for 138 yards in a 46-0 victory over Donovan Catholic.

Also deserving mention: Mike Bickford, So., RB, Central

Defense

Greg Schmalz, Jr., LB, Barnegat

In Barnegat’s 13-7 victory over Point Boro, Schmalz made a team-high 12 tackles (five solo) with a tackle for a loss and a fumble recovery to help the Bengals stay in the thick of the B South race.
