Shore Football Alumni Making Collegiate Impact

Here is an update on the Shore Conference graduates who are making their mark at the collegiate level and beyond early in this 2012 football season.

These are not all the Shore alumni currently on collegiate rosters, but those seeing time on the field and making any type of impact on the stat sheet.

Asbury Park

Junior wide receiver Lamar Davenport is tied for third on the team with 5 catches for 56 yards and a touchdown through two games for Monmouth University.

Barnegat

Freshman quarterback Nick SanGiacomo, a transfer from Tulane, is 0-for-8 in two games played for Central Connecticut State.

Senior Doug Pannone is the starting left guard at Montclair State.

Junior Rob Municchi is a starting guard and captain at Muhlenberg College.

Brick

Sophomore defensive end Dylan McDonnell had a tackle in the season opener for Bucknell University.

Senior starting cornerback Ed Leech has 3 tackles and a pass break-up through two games for Albright College.

Brick Memorial

Garrett Graham is a third-year tight end for the Houston Texans.

Central

Redshirt sophomore Adam Skidmore, who is 6-foot-6 and 300 pounds, is the starting right guard at Tulane University.

Junior Matt Kiefer is the starting center at Kean University.

Senior linebacker Josh Osborne is tied for second on the team with 18 tackles through two games for Castleton College.

Colts Neck

Junior kicker Eric Spillane is 3-for-3 on field goal attempts with a long of 39 yards through two games for Monmouth University.

Freshman running back Victor Scalici has 57 yards rushing on 9 attempts through two games for The College of New Jersey and was named the New Jersey Athletic Conference Offensive Rookie of the Week for Week Two.

Sophomore Pat Murtha is the starting fullback and has one catch for 24 yards and two kickoff returns for an average of 18 yards in two games for Susquehanna University.

Freehold

Senior running back Nick Tyson has rushed for 39 yards and two touchdowns in two games for The College of New Jersey.

Junior Darrin Love is a starter at left tackle for Kean University.

Sophomore defensive back Derrick Bender is a starter who has 6 tackles through two games for Wesley College.

Sophomore defensive end Brandon Weiss has a team-high 2 sacks to go with 9 tackles in two games for Stonehill College. Also, sophomore defensive back Sterry Codrington has 6 tackles in two games.

Freehold Township

FCS All-American receiver Ryan Spadola, a senior, leads Lehigh with 11 catches for 193 yards through two games.

Sophomore linebacker Gene Blanco has three tackles through two games for Muhlenberg College.

Junior fullback Matt Faiella has 2 catches for 20 yards in 2 games for Stony Brook.

Holmdel

Senior wideout Glenn Grainger leads The College of New Jersey with 16 catches for 120 yards in two games.

Senior linebacker Mike Lambert is third on the team with 11 tackles and has a team-high three tackles for a loss, an interception and a forced fumble in two games for The College of New Jersey.

Howell

Senior David Hayes is a three-year letter-winner who is second on the team with 68 yards rushing and a touchdown through two games for the University of Delaware.

Junior wideout Rob Handy has one catch for 6 yards through two games for Assumption College.

Freshman quarterback Ryan Davies has seen some time for Moravian College, throwing for 59 yards on six completions.

Jackson Liberty

Junior linebacker Matt Filosa has 8 tackles in two games for Albright College.

Junior linebacker Paul Hobbs leads Albright College with 19 tackles in two games.

Keansburg

Senior wideout Scott Pillar has a team-high 13 catches for 117 yards and  a touchdown through two games for Albright College.

Junior defensive tackle Bryan Thomson has three tackles in a season-opening win for East Stroudsburg.

Lacey

Senior Justin Pandorf is the starting fullback for Monmouth University.

Sophomore defensive lineman Joe Tulino had 4 tackles for Sacred Heart in a season-opening loss to Morgan State in four overtimes.

Senior defensive back Mike Mancini has six tackles through two games as a starter for Kean University.

Junior defensive lineman Mike Stuppiello has a team-high 4 sacks along with 6 tackles in two games for Assumption College.

Long Branch

Sophomore Miles Shuler has returned a punt and seen time at wide receiver for Rutgers.

Manalapan

Fifth-year senior Craig Peterson is the back-up to Kyle Frazier at Monmouth University after seeing extensive time last season and setting several school records when Frazier was hurt.

Junior Mike Orlando is the starting right guard for Kean University.

Sophomore defensive lineman John Dokouslis has a pair of tackles in two games for Rowan University.

Manasquan

Sophomore wideout Neal Sterling is second on the team with 7 catches for 77 yards and a touchdown for Monmouth University through two games.

Junior linebacker Dan Sullivan has 9 tackles, a sack and an interception in two games for Monmouth University.

Senior defensive back Shane Roland had 8 tackles and a pass break-up in a season-opening loss for FDU-Florham.

Manchester

Freshman linebacker Stephen Bick had a pair of tackles for FDU-Florham in a season-opening loss.

Matawan

Junior defensive lineman Ian Carter has two tackles in two games for Rowan University.

Sophomore wide receiver Terry Rodriguez has 2 catches for 25 yards in two games for Moravian College. Also, sophomore defensive lineman Andrew Richmond has three tackles, one for a loss, through two games for Moravian.

Junior Kyle Hardy is a starting wide receiver for LIU Post.

Junior wideout Jon Smith had 5 catches for 42 yards in the season opener for Holy Cross.

Junior linebacker Dave Incle has 2 tackles in 2 games for Marist.

Wide receiver Danny Fierro has one catch through two games for Delaware Valley College.

Middletown North

Redshirt freshman Shilique Calhoun has seen action with one tackle in two games at defensive end for Michigan State, which is ranked No. 10 in the country in the latest Associated Press Top 25.

Senior linebacker Dan Wollman has been outstanding with a team-high 31 tackles, including three for a loss, in two games for Kean University. Also, junior running back Sean McKee has gotten six carries in two games.

Senior running back Uly Gibson leads Assumption College with 101 yards rushing in two games.

Middletown South

Fourth-year running back Knowshon Moreno had 13 yards rushing and a touchdown in the Denver Broncos’ season-opening win over the Steelers.

Junior linebacker Nick Bricker is second on the team at The College of New Jersey with 15 tackles, including one for a loss, through two games. Also, senior defensive back Joe Laferlita has five tackles and sophomore defensive lineman Tom Masi has a pair of tackles in two games for TCNJ.

Junior tight end Scott Simonson is third on the team with 8 catches for 112 yards and a touchdown through two games for Assumption College.

Junior linebacker Sean Campbell has 5 tackles, 2 for a loss, as a starter through two games for Georgetown University.

Sophomore Rick Lovato is a long-snapper for Old Dominion.

Senior wideout Louis Haynes is second on the team with 8 catches for 96 yards for Kean University.

Red Bank Catholic

Fourth-year running back Donald Brown had a team-high 48 yards rushing and a touchdown for the Indianapolis Colts in a loss in the season opener.

Sophomore tight end Jack Tabb has 3 catches for 47 yards and a touchdown in two games for the University of North Carolina.

Senior quarterback Louie Bianchini has thrown for 199 yards and two touchdowns in two games for Rowan University.

Red Bank Catholic graduate Al Golden is the head coach at the University of Miami, which is currently 1-1.

Former Red Bank Catholic head coach Frank Edgerly, who is also an RBC graduate, is a scout for the New England Patriots.

Starting wide receiver Jake Flaherty, a junior, had one catch for 7 yards and a touchdown in the season opener for Bucknell University.

Rumson-Fair Haven

Junior punter Tucker Smith is averaging 39.8 yards per punt on five punts through two games for Carnegie Mellon.

Senior Tim Robinson is the starting right guard and junior Quinton Gierlatowicz is the starting right tackle for Susquehanna University.

Senior wideout Ryan Kirchner leads the University of Albany with 9 catches for 67 yards through two games.

Taylor Brown is a senior defensive tackle at the University of Pennsylvania, which opens its season on Saturday.

Sophomore tight end Evan Ruane has one catch through two games for Monmouth University.

Former Rutgers star Clark Harris is a returning starter as the long-snapper for the Cincinnati Bengals.

Junior linebacker Glenn Carson is fourth on the team with 14 tackles in two games for Penn State.

Sophomore defensive back Bill Shimko has 13 tackles through two games for Montclair State.

Anthony Stroffolino is a senior defensive end at the University of Pennsylvania, which opens its season on Saturday.

Senior linebacker Jarrett Pidgeon is second on the team with 13 tackles and also has an interception in two games for Bloomsburg.

St. John Vianney

Junior quarterback Joe Carlucci has thrown for 138 yards and a touchdown in two games for Muhlenberg College.

Freshman quarterback Anthony Carlucci threw for 74 yards on 10-for-12 passing one game at Franklin & Marshall.

Junior safety Chris Mayo II, who led the team in tackles as a sophomore, has 7 tackles through two games for Liberty University.

Toms River East

Sophomore running back Nico Steriti leads the University of New Hampshire with 101 yards rushing and a touchdown through two games.

Senior Mike Murphy is a returning starter at left tackle for Monmouth University and earned preseason All-Northeast Conference honors.

Senior starting defensive back Brett Yajcaji has 13 tackles in two games for Kean University.

Junior John Smicklo is a returning starter at punter for Wesley College, and is averaging 37.5 yards on eight punts through two games. Senior defensive back Jared Morris set a school record with four interceptions in Wesley’s season opener and was named the conference’s Defensive Player of the Week.

Junior Tom Brutofsky is the starting fullback for the University of Chicago.

Toms River North

Sophomore wide receiver Anthony Carrington is second on the team with 5 catches for 60 yards through two games for Wagner College.

Junior Evan Regas has seen time on the offensive line as a reserve for Temple University.

Wall

Senior linebacker Billy Lauch is fourth on the team with eight tackles through two games for Monmouth University.

Junior wideout Fred Sprengel leads The College of New Jersey with 156 yards receiving and has 9 catches and a touchdown through two games. Sophomore Kyle Janeczek is also a starting wide receiver for TCNJ.
