Shore Conference Tournament

Semifinal Round

Tuesday, Feb. 20

At RWJBarnabas Health Arena, Toms River

1-St. John Vianney 39, 4-St. Rose 37

Junior forward Brelynn Bellamy accepted a feed from junior point guard Rahmena Henderson and buried a corner 3-pointer as time expired to lift the Lady Lancers (24-1) into the SCT final for a second straight year in a heart-stopping fashion.

The win marked the 300th for head coach Dawn Karpell at her alma mater...and one she won't forget.

St. Rose (22-3), the defending champion who knocked of the Lancers in last year's final, seized a 37-36 edge on a layup by junior guard Lauren Lithgow with 8.8 seconds showing in regulation.

St. Rose entered the fourth quarter with a 28-27 lead courtesy of a buzzer-beating halfcourt shot by senior guard Mikayla Markham. However, a steal and layup by senior forward Sarah Furch put Vianney back on top, 29-28, and junior guard Sarah Karpell extended the advantage with a three.

Markham closed the gap to 36-35 on a baseline pull-up with 1:11 showing.

2-Manasquan 55, 3-Red Bank Catholic 37

The Warriors (23-2) set the terms from the outset, racing to a 15-0 lead and never looking back en route to advance to their fouth SCT title game in five years. Junior guard Lola Mullaney clicked for seven of her 16 points in the opening quarter, which ended with Manasquan out to a comfortable 17-2 cushion, and senior guard Dara Mabrey 10 of her game-high 18 before the break as the Warrios took a 32-14 advantage into intermission.

Junior forward Faith Masonius finished with 13 points and senior guard Carly Geissler netted eight.

Senior guard Rose Caverly led Red Bank Catholic (20-5) with 14 points and classmate Hayley Moore scored nine.
