Barnegat 66, Asbury Park 17

Junior Mason Krey led a balanced scoring effort that helped the Bengals (2-0) handle the Blue Bishops (0-2) for their second win in as many days to open the season.

Manalapan 72, Wall 36

Junior Aiden Sosinov poured in 27 points behind six three-pointers in his first varsity start and the Braves doubled up the Crimson Knights in the season-opener for both teams thanks to 10 threes as a team.

Senior Anthony Leger added 13 points and senior Tristan Ulrich knocked down three three-pointers in an 11-point effort. Senior Colin O'Brien hit the other Manalapan three-pointer and finished with seven points.

Ocean 42, Long Branch 24

Senior Keith Allen scored 14 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to pace the Spartans to a season-opening win over the Green Wave.

Sophomore Aidan Saint Louis added 13 points and six rebounds for Ocean, which seized control with a 15-7 run during the second quarter to go up, 26-19, at halftime.

Senior Peter Da Cruz and junior Havier Gonzalez each scored eight points to lead Long Branch.

Toms River South 83, Lakewood 40

Senior Kai Barckley exploded for a career-high 38 points thanks to seven three-pointers and the Indians (0-1) coasted to a win over the Piners (0-2) in the season-opener for Toms River South.

Barckley's barrage accounted for seven of the 11 threes Toms River South made and all of Barckley's points came in the first three quarters.

Sophomore Shane Gambarony added 16 points for Toms River South. Junior Rahmel Anderson scored 15 points and senior Alex Colon chipped in 14 to lead Lakewood.

Freehold Twp. 54, Freehold Boro 50

Junior Nick Cardone scored 15 of his game-high 19 points in the second half and senior teammate Andrew Silverman added 17 to help the Patriots rally from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit to win the Kuhnert Classic over the Colonials for the 18th time in the last 19 meetings between the crosstown rivals.

Junior Aidan Hamlin-Woolfolk scored on a drive to the rim to give Freehold Boro a 46-36 lead with 4:46 left to play in the fourth quarter to cap a 9-0 Colonials run. Freehold Township had cut an 11-point deficit to 37-36 with a 10-0 run to close the third quarter, highlighted by a steal and dunk by senior Brandon Norero and a three-pointer by Cardone in the final seconds of the third.

Trailing by 10 with under five minutes to go, Freehold Township scored seven points in a span of 1:20 and extended the run to 11-0 to take a 47-46 lead with 2:35 left - the first lead of the game for the Patriots.

With the game tied, 47-47, Cardone drove to the basket for a layup with just under two minutes to go for a 49-47 Freehold Township lead. Cardone and junior Jordan Dulnuan combined to go 4-for-6 from the free-throw line over the next two possessions to push the lead to 53-47 and Silverman closed it out by hitting 1-of-2 from the line with 7.5 seconds left.

Norero finished with nine points for Freehold Township, which played without senior forward Jordan Conover due to illness.

Senior Will Hon led Freehold Boro with 14 points, six rebounds and three assists. Junior Qua'Mir Everett and senior Christian DiGiso each added 10 points, with Everett hauling in 10 rebounds and DiGiso also adding five rebounds and five assists. Senior Sam Cranwell also pitched in eight points and five rebounds in the loss.

Academy Charter 54, Keansburg 47

New Dorp (N.Y.) 57, St. John Vianney 54

Junior Alex Jurado scored a team-high 13 points as the Lancers came up one score short in a season-opening loss to New Dorp on Staten Island.

Senior Mark Augello scored 11 points in his debut for St. John Vianney after transferring from Freehold Township, while senior Emanuel Domingo posted 10 points and 11 rebounds in the loss.
