Class A North

Howell 28, Marlboro 14

Senior quarterback Connor McGlynn went 18-for-27 for 298 yards and four touchdown passes to give him nine touchdown passes in two games as the Rebels (2-0, 1-0) improved to 2-0 on the heels of a 1-9 season by downing the Mustangs (0-2, 0-1).

Junior Jarvis Leaks had a career-high 9 catches for 157 yards and a touchdown and also ran for 57 yards on 15 carries. Senior wideout Joey Schultz had 6 catches for 74 yards, and wideout Dontrell Jones had a pair of touchdown catches in the win.

Dustin Jensen had a fumble return for a touchdown in the loss for Marlboro.

Class A Central

Red Bank Catholic 41, Manasquan 0

Senior tailback Larry Redaelli ran for 105 yards and three touchdowns as the top-ranked Caseys (2-0, 1-0) blanked the Warriors (1-1, 0-1).

Senior fullback Frank Olmo added a 10-yard touchdown run, junior tailback Mike Cordova had a 3-yard touchdown run and wideout Connor Smith caught a 34-yard touchdown pass from sophomore quarterback Eddie Hahn for Hahn's first varsity touchdown throw.

Senior defensive end Shawn McCord had two sacks, a forced fumble, and a tackle for a loss and senior linebacker Ryan Schoer had a sack and a fumble recovery that led to a touchdown to lead the Caseys' defense.

Class B North

Matawan 31, Freehold 13

Four different players scored and senior Mike Creamer added a 24-yard field goal as the Huskies (2-0, 1-0) scored 24 unanswered points to pull away and knock off the Colonials (0-2, 0-1).

A 50-yard touchdown run by sophomore Khalil Haskins gave Matawan a 14-13 lead heading into the fourth quarter. Quarterback Jimmy Pierce scored on a keeper, Creamer booted a field goal, and senior Justin Lester added a 5-yard touchdown run to help Matawan pull away. Junior Devon Spann also had a touchdown run in the win.

Quarterback Brad Jones scored on a keeper and senior Jomar DeJesus had an interception return for a touchdown in the loss for Freehold.

Class A South

Lacey 34, Toms River North 22

Senior quarterback Tom Kelly went 11-for-22 and threw four touchdown passes, three of them to senior wideout Christian Tutela, who had five catches for 128 yards as the Lions (2-0, 1-0) beat the Mariners (0-2, 0-1).

Chris Jensen added 84 yards rushing and a touchdown on 12 carries, and also had two catches for 37 yards and a touchdown.

Nondivisional

Long Branch 24, Monmouth 0

Senior quarterback Shabazz Shuler ran for a pair of scores and senior tailback Deon Williams added a 9-yard touchdown run as the two combined for 158 yards rushing in the first half alone to give the Green Wave (1-1) a 24-0 advantage at the break on their way to blanking the Falcons (1-1).

Kicker Vinny Mota added a 20-yard field goal in the win.

Nonconference

Colts Neck 39, North Brunswick 0

Spotswood 60, Keansburg 0

Mater Dei Prep 38, Cardinal McCarrick 16

The Seraphs (2-0) are 2-0 for the first time since 1992, as Tyson White ran for touchdowns of 65 and 50 yards and also had a two-point conversion run to help Mater Dei Prep blow out to a 38-0 lead on their way to downing the Eagles (0-2).

Vincenzo Mezzacappa added a 40-yard touchdown return on a punt, Jelanie Mitchell had a 15-yard touchdown run, and Derek Lopez chipped in with a 14-yard touchdown run in the win.
