Class A North

Middletown North 41, Marlboro 12

Freshman quarterback Donald Glenn went 11-for-16 for a career-high 261 yards and four touchdown passes, including two to wideout Jordan Pitts, who had 97 yards receiving, as the Lions (1-4, 1-2) gave new head coach Steve Bush his first win at Middletown North.

Brandon Piccini and Jake Betkowski also had touchdown catches, and running back Chad Freshnock rolled up 125 yards and two scores on the ground in the win.

Class A Central

No. 8 Manasquan 17, Monmouth 14

Senior tailback Joe Murphy had a touchdown run, senior quarterback Tucker Caccavale had a 75-yard touchdown pass, and senior kicker Raul Perez added a 25-yard field goal that proved to be crucial as the Warriors (5-1, 3-1) built a 17-7 lead and held on to beat the Falcons (2-3, 1-2).

Class A South

Southern 21, No. 3 Lacey 7

The Rams (3-2, 2-2) ended a 15-game winning streak against Shore Conference competition by the Lions (5-1, 3-1) as senior tailback Rob Yaiser caught a 31-yard touchdown pass from Logan Sheehan and also ran for a 60-yard touchdown to power the win.

Penn State recruit Mike Gesicki added a 20-yard touchdown catch and a two-point conversion catch from Sheehan that gave Southern a 14-7 lead with 1:10 left in the third quarter. Yaiser ran for a career-high 158 yards and also became the Rams' all-time leading scorer with 141 points. Gesicki finished with 6 catches for 87 yards.

Southern's defense held Lacey to minus-7 yards rushing and 123 yards overall, yielding just three first downs.

Senior wideout Christian Tutela hit fellow wide receiver Mike Bocchini for a 74-yard touchdown pass on a double-reverse pass in the second quarter for Lacey's lone touchdown. The Southern win denied Lacey coach Lou Vircillo from moving into second all time in career wins in Shore Conference history, as he remains tied with the late Vic Kubu with 263.

Toms River South 33, Jackson Memorial 14

Senior fullback Otis Kearney (80 yards) and junior running back Khaleel Greene (53 yards) each ran for long second-half touchdowns and junior quarterback Tymere Berry scored once rushing and once passing as the Indians (3-2, 2-2) scored 21 unanswered points to pull away from the Jaguars (3-2, 3-1) in A South.

Senior Darrius Hart caught a touchdown pass and had two interceptions on defense for Toms River South.

Ken Bradley scored on a 7-yard run and quarterback Joe DeMaio scored on a 65-yard run for Jackson Memorial, which led 14-12 at halftime.

Class B North

Red Bank 36, Neptune 35 (2 OT)

Sophomore wideout Sadiq Palmer caught his third touchdown pass of the game on a 25-yard halfback pass by junior Trevor Riley and then the Bucs (1-4, 1-2) went for the two-point conversion and the win and got it on a run by Palmer to beat the Scarlet Fliers (2-4, 1-3) in double overtime.

Neptune had taken a 35-28 lead when senior quarterback Shakeem Richardson scored on a 1-yard run to open the second overtime before Red Bank's final heroics. This is the second straight season that Red Bank has entered 0-4 and gotten its first win against Neptune.

Riley ran for a 31-yard touchdown in the first overtime before Neptune tied it on a 4-yard run by Marcus Washington. Palmer helped send the game into overtime when he caught a 12-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Joe Persico with five minutes left in regulation to tie it at 21. Persico also threw a 21-yard scoring strike to Palmer in the first quarter, and Xavier Chestnut added a 55-yard touchdown run in the win.

Richardson finished with three touchdowns on the ground, and Byron Campbell added a 25-yard touchdown run and also had an interception on defense for Neptune.

Long Branch 48, Freehold 23

Junior tailback Dahmiere Willis exploded for a career-high 276 yards rushing and five touchdowns to help the Green Wave (5-1, 3-0) set up a showdown next week with Ocean for first place in Class B North after rolling past the Colonials (0-5, 0-3).

Class B Central

Pt. Beach 42, Keansburg 14

Junior running back Joe Wegrzyniak ran for 207 yards and 2 touchdowns, including two of more than 40 yards, and Michael Frauenheim had three touchdown runs and 101 yards on 13 carries along with a touchdown catch and an interception, and senior defensive back Zach Yates had four interceptions to lead the Garnet Gulls (5-1, 3-0) past the Titans (1-5, 0-2).

Joey Rodriguez had a 50-yard touchdown run and Arkeyel Brown ran for another score in the loss for Keansburg.

Asbury Park 26, Mater Dei Prep 18

Senior quarterback Robert Barksdale ran for two touchdowns and threw a 15-yard touchdown pass to sophomore wideout Jaedon Stephens as the Blue Bishops (3-2, 2-2) held off the Seraphs (3-3, 1-3).

Senior Daquane Bland-Bennett added a 12-yard touchdown run in the third quarter that gave Asbury Park a 20-0 lead, but Mater Dei fought back. Senior Derek Lopez ran for a 17-yard touchdown, then junior Tysaun White had his second punt return touchdown in two games with a 64-yarder to make it 26-12. A fumble by Barksdale then was converted into an 11-yard touchdown run by Mater Dei quarterback Christian Palmer to cut the lead to eight with 1:16 left in the game.

Asbury Park recovered the ensuing onside kick, and then its defense came up with a stop in the final seconds to seal the win.

Class B South

Lakewood 29, Jackson Liberty 20

A tackle in the end zone for a safety by sophomore linebacker Amir Tyler snapped a 20-20 tie with 2:10 left in the fourth quarter and junior tailback Chapelle Cook added a 30-yard touchdown run with 1:47 remaining as the Piners (4-1, 3-1) edged the Lions (1-4, 1-3).

Jackson Liberty had tied the game at 20 on a 27-yard touchdown pass from Matt Castronuova to Brett Ribellino with 5:30 left in the game. Lakewood quarterback Narquese Joshua threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to David Patterson and threw a five-yard touchdown pass to Fejon Sutton. Tyler added a 42-yard touchdown run in the win.

Castronouova had a big game in the loss for the Lions, as he also threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to C.J. Bailey and had a 77-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Matt Pinto chipped in with a 55-yard interception return for a touchdown.

Nondivisional

No. 4 Colts Neck 35, St. John Vianney 7

Quarterback Christian Sanchez threw two touchdown passes to senior tight end Nick Volpe and also ran for a 21-yard touchdown as the Cougars (5-0) rolled past the Lancers (1-4) and have now outscored their five opponents 209-7.

Senior tailback Anthony Gargiulo added a pair of touchdown runs in the win.

St. John Vianney sophomore quarterback Anthony Brown threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to wideout Frank Bonavitacola for the only points Colts Neck has allowed this season.

Nonconference

South River 28, Keyport 27

The Rams (5-1) brought a four-game winning streak by the Red Raiders (4-2) to an end, as junior running back Doug Ryan had all four touchdowns for South River, including a score with 40 seconds left in the game and Rams trailing 27-21. South River blocked the PAT attempt on Keyport's final score, which proved to be crucial.

Senior quarterback Alex Thomson ran for a pair of touchdowns and threw a touchdown pass to tight end Travis Alvarez in the loss. Chase Bright added an interception return for a touchdown.
