Point Pleasant Borough is the two-time defending Class B South champions and they have opened the season with dominating road wins over division rivals Pinelands and Lacey. Friday night the Panthers get to put their talents on display not only in front of friendly faces but the new artificial turf surface at Al Saner Field as they host Donovan Catholic in the Jersey Mike’s Game of the Week on 92.7 WOBM and 1160/1310AM.

Coach Matt Cilento’s Panthers are led by quarterback James Fara who has rushed for 343 yards and 5 touchdowns in the two victories while passing for another 121 yards and two scores. Other offensive weapons include running back Tanner Gordon and slot back Brandon Cipriano (4 TD’s) while the defense is anchored by middle linebacker Garrett Romer.

Donovan Catholic broke an 11-game losing streak in a 28-0 shutout of Lakewood last week which was the first for new Griffins head coach Dan Curcione, who led Wall to a state sectional title last December and was the Shore Sports Network Coach of the Year. Sophomore quarterback Ryan Clark has done more damage running than passing but has a solid target in James Bivins, one of several freshmen who will get on the field Friday. Sal DiSalvo, one of only six seniors on the roster and sophomore linebacker Chris Cormann combined for 20 tackles in the win over the Piners and will have their hands full with the potent Point Boro running game.

Matt Harmon (play-by-play), Kevin Williams (color commentator) and Ed Sarluca (sideline reporter) will call the action live beginning at 7pm which can also be heard on the Shore Sports Network Mobile App.
